curiouser and curiouser trans safe prog

Well as I have posted recently we just got back from France when the dreaded auto fail safe prog kicked in. Anything over 2,500 revs it kicked in. Stop restart and then it would kick in on 2,5000 revs again! So because the hospital I have to attend has got a very steep exit I decided to use low...

L322 no drive out of gear box

Not so boring if you are unfortunate enough to be saddled with a GM 5 speed box! Anything anyone can post that is helpful will only futher enrich those who don't have a GM5s

    Overland prep for L322

The upgraded solenoid interests me, I think I am just about to have to change the one on our dreaded GM 5 speed! REZO Apart from the gearbox what I would suggest for such a trek is to upgrade to ventilated Brembos all round, otherwise you will be chewing though pads and discs.

    Back from Normandy Landing!

The French loved them! Of course being a RR a fault code has now appeared, trans failsafe prog...Too knackered to have a look today, but I think it will probably be a dodgy gearbox solenoid which would explain the need to do a reset twice while we were away. Being that it is the worst of the...

    Back from Normandy Landing!

Just back from 1,000 mile round trip, the Old girl didn't miss a beat! Just needed a bit of brake fluid and a quick reset of the EMOS once. Apart from that went like a rocket and returned 25 miles plus per gallon driven at rather high speeds for the most part. We DID take all sorts of spares but...

Speed Limit 20mph !!!! Warning!! Whats wrong?

Either you have accidentally set the spedd 'bong' to 20 moh or it has done it itself! Like mentioned above just go into settings on your screen an touch speed button, set it to not go off or to a speed that is useful to you. I have had to set ours for 20 MPH because of Sadist Khan's 20 mph speed...

L322 What to look out for on 2004 TD6

Good points, M57 engine is a really good engine capable of riduclous miles, IF you change the oil every six months and change all the other filters annually including the annoyingly placed breather filter. Also a lot of parts will probably have had to be replaced by now! Bad point is most...

    Passenger side wing mirror

This may seem trivial but it is annoying! The passenegr side wing mirror on our 2006 L322 3.0 diesel RR doesn't stay folded back. When I press the wing mirror close button both sides retract but the passenger side then goes back to being fully open.Weirdly this happened after clearing codes...

    L322 Wheel bearing abs

What Ho Pal, I was told by the garage that it is indeed the steering angle sensor, which has been re-calibrated twice now...I do believe the Old Girl did take a bit of a whack while it was away being filmed for a new tv series pilot but cannot prove it (didn't make the final cut so just got paid...

    L322 Wheel bearing abs

It might seem a bit left field, but have you 'clattered' anything heavy or non movable recently? If so the steering sensor can intermitemtly inform the ABS system that there is a problem. The reason I mention this is that our steering wheel is about 2 degrees off centre, ANY attempt to make it...

    new front tyres

Changed tyres back over to the originals at the front £40, again !But at least I got the originals rebalanced as they were way out, so all in all it was an expensive lesson. I will now wait until I have worn the front pair down more and then replace ALL four wheels and tyres with similar tread...

    new front tyres

After seeing so many comments advising against what I have done I have decided to put the old front tyres back on and then wait until they are worn more. In the meantime I will look for another pair to put on later that match the ones I am about to take off! I just don't want to risk a hefty...

    new front tyres

I know that is the perceived wisdom, but I could not afford to put 4 new tyres on at the same time. I figured that because the new ones on the front are 'less grippy' that they would offset the A/T's on the rear. As soon as I can I shall be putting new ones on the rear. But thank you so much for...

    new front tyres

I have recently put P275/65R18 114H MICHELIN PILOT LTX M+S TYRES on the front of our L322, the rear tyres are full A/ tyres whereas the Pirelli's are ltx, I recently read you should always put the new tyres on the rear if you are only fitting one pair of new tyres. The way I figured it is that...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Took the Old Girl back to my current favourite garage in order to give them a few beers, when they asked if the new suspension arms had made the drive better I said "yes, but the steering wheel is just a little bit of centre now", I was expecting them to say that they will adjust it when I come...

Other This is being pushed on me by YouTube

We are off to Normandy in a fortnight and have taken out extra breakdown insurance including unlimited 'repatriation' just in case the old girl decides to have a hissy...like many have suggested on Landy Zone before, I put a few quid by each month to cover the inevitable cost of large jobs...

Other This is being pushed on me by YouTube

Just out of interest for when my GM five speed box eventually self destructs, do you think it would be posssile to 'retrofit' an HP24 to the M57 engine we have in our 2006 L322 3.0 diesel as a replcement for the GM?

    L322 Driving In France...headlight adjustment

Having battled and beaten the window gremlins etc ahead of our journey to Normandy, I now would like to know from the vast data base of yourselves (not being sarcastic) as to if there is an 'on board' head lamp adjuster. When I was rather ill in hospital earlier in the year I am sure I read in...
