    P38A Grubby tail lights

Morning everyone. In my ever continuing quest to make this 160,000 mile P38 a somewhat presentable example my attention has now turned to my tail lights, as you can see in the attached image there’s some filth settled to the base of the light. It’s not external as I’ve tried wiping it off to...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Had to use the P38 as Thunderbird 2 and go and collect my pregnant sister from work as she was flooded in and needed to get to an antenatal course. Passed a lot of stricken hatchbacks and crossovers, didn’t even break a sweat motoring through. In other news, the tabs in the centre cabin light...

    Head lights

The lights on the P38 are some of the better I’ve used. Loads better than the Volvo V50 I had prior. When I had a bulb go I replaced with these: Phillips bulbs

    P38A Cramped drivers footwell

6’6”, size 13 feet with very long legs. I’ve got no issue fitting in and using the pedals. Arguably the one car that I can actually fit in..

P38A The hens teeth of sunroof parts

Thought I’d update this thread quickly. Storm Debbie brought some rain and winds to hopefully drive the water into areas it shouldn’t. Well no leaks coming through the light into the cabin so I will presume it was some clogged drains! Thanks all again for the help!

Just a few odd jobs to tidy Phil the P38 up: Topped up oil, changed a couple of bulbs in the HEVAC and fixed the lack of fan control on the HEVAC as well. Hopefully also fixed the leaky sunroof, but we’ll need to wait for some rain to fully find that out..

Well I’ve poked some gear cable outer down the holes. Didn’t see any crap come out but when I used a sports bottle to put water in the trough it all ended up on the floor which is a promising start. See what happens when the rains come again I guess.

Thanks all. I’ve got a bit of bicycle gear outer that will be plenty long enough. Flexi enough but stiff enough to push any crud. Joys of working a cycle shop!

    P38A Insurance prices getting silly

I did some GoCompare quotes a while ago and was getting around £1000-1200. Came to renewal and it had dropped to less than I was currently paying, by the time I’d added breakdown, protected NCB and a couple other bits it was the same as last year. Don’t know if I got lucky or it was a weird...

P38A The hens teeth of sunroof parts

Well that’s promising for my wallet. Reason I did suspect the seal is it is starting to peel very slightly at the front and back of the glass, not a huge amount but some. I’ll get the jug of water out throw some water other the car. Am I right in assuming the drains should come out of the...

P38A The hens teeth of sunroof parts

Hopefully you wonderful people can help me out here. I’ve started to get a drip from the centre light. From the reading I’ve done it’s either the sunroof seals letting water in, or the drains blocked. Or both. I’ve going to give clearing the drains out a go this evening, but in the event it’s...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Went to fit the new discs, pads and drop links this evening.. 2 hours later I’ve fitted the drop links only. Seized piston in the OSF calliper. Didn’t even bother trying the other side. New calipers, bolts etc and some DOT 4 on the way. I would ask when it’ll end, but I’m fully aware this is...

    P38A Wiper length (Solved)

This has been a constant issue for me since I took ownership of mine. Mine now need replacing and I did some digging and I believe a 19” on the passenger side should be optimum and not have the silly overhang.

Went out and hunted down my first proper green lane. A very safe, non scratchy lane with a few large muddy puddles and a fairly damp/wet track. Good fun! The Mrs even enjoyed it!

What did you do with your Range Rover today

I’ve had at best the 40 minute commute along a twisty A road, day off tomorrow so will be out for a long drive to the hills to go cycling, but from what I did drive home there seemed to be less road noise from the tyre, a bit more low frequency hum which I expected, less of the harsh mid tones...

Nope, good amount of room still. Getting onto the drive requires a couple of full lock moves and no rubbing present

Close enough.. it’s usually impossible to drive at the speed limit on all my local drives anyway, and the motor way I always set the cruise to 65 on the account it’s shaped like a brick.
