The wolves are howling in high summer. Most unusual!

This afternoon was supposed to be workshop tidying (in preparation for the next roud of landy fixing) with cold beer and Cosi fan Tutti up loud. My wife doesn't like opera, and the Italian ones ( she speaks it...) with the really sexist plots annoy her. But one of the neighbours just knocked on...

I'm wearing mainly black here, not mainly white. 1) Shaving legs not recommended 2) I know they're stockings, not tights 3) Far too bl****** hot, even if it is literally freezing outside.

Spent all morning washing, cleaning and greasing things. Much to my surprise, it turned out to be the dogs, and my bike, not the car..

Got something very similar. It'll do. If you can, get one with crossbar handles, rather than the centre-line one there. Much better posture wise, makes it easier to use Just don't use the chainsaw on anything over about 4", or it bogs down- tiny engine for a polesaw. Oh, and lube up all the...

Let's talk about bushes ( no sniggering please)

Just the front ones. Main aim is passing the control technique ( MOT equivalent). I'll do all four at the front. It's only the rear two that seem to be too worn, but given I'll have the arms off anyway, I might as well do all four. The other two are probably near failure anyway I'll be doing...

    Knackered battery

Sounds knackered to me. I'd pull it out, charge it, and then stick a voltmeter on it occasionally. If the voltage keeps dropping fast with no possible load on it, it is scrap...

Let's talk about bushes ( no sniggering please)

( Early 90) Radius arms, perhaps rear shocks as well, I need to take everything off there and see how F****they are..

We've got cowbells and wolves howling. But it doesn't compare to Bach.

Let's talk about bushes ( no sniggering please)

I find myself in need of at least one new bush, and they're generally best done in pairs or sets. But bushes come in all sorts of brands, shapes, sizes and colours. What do you find works best for you? El Cheapo Britpart ones? Or a better price ( and quality??) one? Is getting better ones...

Nowhere, but nowhere else does the Proms. Might be a right pain in the posterior to flog into the heart of darkness, but you're not going to get John Elliot Gardner directing the Monteverdi chorus for Bach Canatas, or Simon Rattle and the Berlin Phil doing the Mahler 8th for less than the...

Family bonding time... many hands make light work and all that! Get lots of the people listed involved, and have a meal out in the newly cleared garden. She can't object to that without looking unreasonable!

    CV Joint adjustment?

1985/86.. Vin plate, paperwork etc don't quite agree. Wiring is a mix of 12J and 19J. Solihull's finest really excelled themselves on build qualilty here.

    CV Joint adjustment?

Swivel pins it is. I could see the housing move on the lift at 6 and 12. 3 and 9 is fine- I'd done end float on the bearings all round and fixed that... Right, park it on the flat ( hard work round here) wheel off, spare jack ready for the housing, and hope it is just loose bolts on the top pin.

    CV Joint adjustment?

The front wheels rock vertically if you lift them off the ground and apply some force, so if that's the diff, I've got bigger problems than I thought!
  18. Alpinewoodsman

    CV Joint adjustment?

Fairly sure. They seemed good when I checked end float ( all four wheels) and the rear ones were now impeccable. And I had it up on a lift- test guy used the hydraulic axle lift to load/unload it, and I could see the vertical movement around the swivel housing as they did.
  19. Alpinewoodsman

    CV Joint adjustment?

Early 90. I've got far too much play on the CV joints- both sides. The CV joints, swivel housings and bearings were replaced by a specialist 4x4 garage two years ago, and have under 10,000km on them, so I'd really hope they're not dead already. Is there sensible way to reduce play on these...

What have you done to your Landie today.

Parked it next to the village fountain, and pressure washed it and the fountain. Both were filthy. Pressure washed the engine bay, and let it dry in the sun before wading into electrics. Found the water had made the LH indicator repeater start working! Still can't find the oil leak, but...
