My Td4 modifications... all done... at last.

Okay, all you fellow Freelander enthusiasts. I’ve carried out a whole load of upgrades to my 2006, 3-door, Td4, and enjoyed all the challenges they brought to me. And from these challenges, I will now relate my experiences, so you might be intrigued enough to want to do the same for your own...

    Bespoke Modifications 2 my FL1

Hi all you Freelander Groupies, me being the best of us all. I've just returned from the UK, having visited family & friends. Yeah, I know, all very boring. Good drinking buddies, though. lol However, when I plan to visit the UK I always visit Ebay beforehand, buying everything under the sun...

    Td4 Lack of power at 70mph - fixed !

I disconnected the MAF on my Td4, out of curiosity and it was extremely difficult to start and wouldn't run at all. So, if your FL starts and runs it isn't the MAF at fault, I reckon.

I have a FL1 Td4 and looking for a modern replacement with GPS satNav, MP3/5, Radio to replace original player. Can anyone suggest a branded unit that fits?

The right-angled hose that fits to your EGR valve might have split when you removed/refitted it. That would give you an Orange light, one with an engine motive. The engine wouldn't run so well either. I recommend checking the hose. It was certainly disturbed so could be the fault. You may need...

GPS-MOUNT ON FL1 CENTRE AIR VENTS?

I'm hoping someone can help me with my dilema. I live in Spain, where it gets very hot - in the summer. Because of this, I'm trying to find a way to mount my 5" gps unit onto the central vents, so I can use it while keeping it cool. Has anyone found a clamp, or whatever, that would do this? I...

    Clutch problem

I think the Flying Scotman is correct. The oil reservoir is difficult to fill anyway, but the union near to the Master cyclinder can be a sod to tighten properly too.

Refurbished my FL1 Td4, inc the VCU

I took my car out for a lengthy drive today, monitoring how it behaved without the outer-part of the filter. And with my wife on board, as well as whole pile of shopping - including four 5-litre bottles of water, our FL1 did 0 - 100Km's ph (60Mph) in 12 seconds, and I didn't push it to its...

Refurbished my FL1 Td4, inc the VCU

I've just done another job on my FL1. It's because I read on this Forum, quite a while back, that someone commented on how the air-filter was wrapped in what can best be described as a thick-wooly-carpet. Having just fitted one I found myself agreeing with what had been written, and how the...

Refurbished my FL1 Td4, inc the VCU

Having not-so-long-since returned to Spain, from the UK with a suitcase loaded with spares for my Freelander Td4, 2006, 3-door, 77k miles, I set to work replacing and fitting all kinds of stuff I had delivered to a UK family address. Replaced:- The plastic fuel feeds above the Injectors with...

    Landrover Freelander 2005 HSE TD4 - Power Issues - Weather related ??

You could check your Intercooler Hoses for a split. I had the self-same problem and discovered it was nothing more than a split hose. For me, it was the hose that has a 90 degree angle and connects onto the EGR valve. A simple thing to miss but still gives the fault you're getting.

Fitted an EGR blanking kit and the car went like a dream afterwards. I highly recommend fitting one. Bought it on Ebay.

    Tapping a shallow hole?

Thanks, everyone. You've all given me food for thought, especially the bread bit. lol I had considered grinding the point off the plug a bit more & I think that's what I'll do. And with some added Locktite, I'm sure all will be well.

    Tapping a shallow hole?

Having drained the system, I'm about to tap into my Freelander's VCU outer plate, which is about 10mm thick, but my tapered taps will not allow many threads to be cut, especially not down to the bottom of the hole. Is there a method of cutting threads for the entire depth without drilling...

Here's something to chew a bone about..... I quote... New Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) petrol engines for cars emit more cancer-causing particles than modern diesel engines, a new study by independent vehicle researchers TÜV Nord revealed today. While GDI engines make petrol cars more...

    Engine Malfunction (Amber)

Check list..... 1. Check for air leaks, whether by flange, loose clips or a split hose. 2. Check for Fault Code using Diagnostic Software, if possible. If yes, the rest of the checks may not be required. 3. Check the fuel supply, ie. Fuel Filter, fuel pipes or fuel pump (in that order). It seems...
