I've come across that in the past where it's been swapped for ordinary relay

+1 on the door latches. Had the same on mine, replaced door latch/actuator and problem solved. I do believe the MGF had the same door latch and far cheaper than the same one from JLR

Many years ago did that with a spark plug on an alloy head that had started to cross thread. New plug went in easy peasy and no problems. Coated cut spark plug with loads of grease to stop any bits dropping into engine.

At least better than bump stop mode
