Freelander 1 Inlet Air Cooler, do we really need it?

I’m aware the Intercooler on a 2005 Freelander 1, Td4, cools the air from the Turbo, making it denser and better for combustion (?), but what might happen if I bypassed the Intercooler in its entirety? To put into place a suitable hose between the inlet and outlet pipes, thereby making the...

Freelander 1 'BEWARE OF WHAT YOU SPRAY ON CONNECTORS for all vehicles.

Aw, your not going to believe this... it seems I had also sprayed the HP Fuel Regulator's contacts & plug with the Carb/Choke spray as well. It slipped my mind I had disconnected it too. I did this when I stripped the Starter-Motor, which gave me access. WD40, followed by Electrical Contact...

Freelander 1 'BEWARE OF WHAT YOU SPRAY ON CONNECTORS for all vehicles.

In addition to my Thread, I had another look at my i930 fault codes. There were 5. Not just the one after all. P0235, P1110, P1e25, P0100 & P1190. I've managed to clear them all, bar 1. Cleaning the connectors with Contact Cleaner did the trick. But P1190 persists. It is Fuel Rail Pressure...

Freelander 1 'BEWARE OF WHAT YOU SPRAY ON CONNECTORS for all vehicles.

I’m writing this as a precaution to all-and-any that use aerosols to clean equipment. I have used – silly me – a can of Carb&Choke (C&C) Cleaner to clean electrical contacts in plugs & sensors. I’m talking, Injectors, Inlet Air temp, MAF, Boost Air temp, etc, etc, and all the rest. I’m...

Freelander 1 Injector Wiring Loom Spares? I need the rubber seals.

An update to my need for the Injector Harness Plug seals. To begin with, I made a huge error. I cleaned the contacts with Carb&Choke Cleaner. That basically ruined the rubber seals - I think. Secondly, having cleaned with Contact-Cleaner, I found a rubber seal that does the job. See this...

Freelander 1 Injector Wiring Loom Spares? I need the rubber seals.

Hi. Might anyone know if it's possible to buy replacement rubber seals (orange coloured) for my Injector Loom? See the photo for details. I'm now missing one and there's a chance the rest will be as perished. Thanks.

Freelander 1 My car missed some beats then refused to start. The cure!

I'm really pleased how this Thread is progressing. From my personal experience having an iCarsoft & Delphi diagnostics system I have been able to save lots of time & bother, as well as being able to determine what was wrong and where to fix, in out of the way places.

Hi. How do I access the i930's DTC memory for saved Fault Codes? PS. Ignore this as I managed it.

Yes, it's a i930. The code is/was... P0203 Injector Circuit Open Cylinder 03 And Nodge, the Delphi system is better, as you say. I have both, but it's easier to carry my dedicated iCarsoft on-board for travel.

The following is an accurate account of what my car suffered today, the symptoms & what cured it. I’m simply writing this as an aid. I was driving along when I felt a hesitation in the car’s drive. That made me alert. It happened again, then again, at an ever increasing pace, and all within...

And that's something I've got my sights on too. If you do it with the Turbo, cassette, or whatever, I would appreciate you posting it. I know repair/refurbishment kits are available so I'll do some exploration on the subjects. Good luck with the pump.

It's basically standard kit you need, which includes Torx. For inserting rubber & plastic seals I used a narrow bolt to press them into position. The Allen headed bolts used for the regulator are the same as the three needed for the rotor.

Hi. You need a 17mm allen key, or a bolt with appropriately sized nuts, to fit the Hex cap. An alternative, and it's one I use quite often, is to chisel it round until it can be removed. I'm sorry I can't be there to help. I'm a dab hand with a chisel. lol I've had lots of practice.

Freelander 1 High Pressure Fuel Pump 0281002480 ……. Refurbished in 8 hours

Thanks, Andy. My aim, by showing what I did, is to help others to perhaps do the same with confidence. The worst part of the job was removing 8 of the 12 pump's Torx screws. I don't like Torx. My advice for anyone, is have a hammer & chisel handy as well as Allen screws to replace them. I used...
