If you look at the snap on bits there is a little symbol near the part number that tells you what year it was made, can be a right bugger to see though.

Put some grease on the screws, just normal grease will do fine. It will not be long before they rattle loose anyway!

Stick a picture up. Sounds to me like the isolator or whatever it is may have some form of fixing to hold the spring in place?

Brakes, the thin bit is an anti squeal shim, the discs are corroded as you are doing such low miles. Have you changed the fuel filter since? Lift pumps are all pretty poor quality, and it can be the luck of the draw on how long they last.

Maybe it was for the troops and not the main man? Have you googled B6 armour?
