Freelander 2 (LR2) Baffling (to me!) front Half-shaft/Axle Length Mystery! Too short, twice???

Another interesting tale of international espionage and subterfuge. Without knowing much about these drive shafts, I've simply been an avid watcher till we get towards the last episode and I can make my accusations. TBH I think someone in the technical documentation dept. at JLR has probably...

    Brakes air in the system

Had this with my Wabco F1. I removed the pipes to the modulator 1 at a time and used a syringe to pump fluid into it. Worked well for me.

    Hello Again! (SOLVED, Engine replacement)

Thanks for sharing your experiences. Shame it went pear shaped on you. Its definitely a 'project'. From a practical point of view, with that much wrong with it, it should probably be crushed and start again with 1 that has less wrong with it... but it depends on what sort of project you want :D

You should say what car you have. Looks like a 2013 F2.

Good to see you back, you've been missed.

    Help - 4WD issue !!

I'm pretty sure the prop is geared to the front axle - but is only connected to the rear axle with any great force when the Haldex is engaged. With 4 wheels lifted, the prop may turn with the back axle, due to drag on the Haldex clutches. If it does turn and the front wheels don't, the the PTU...

    Help - 4WD issue !!

It is more than likely that the prop is being turned by the back wheels. My guess is that the PTU that drives the prop has gone.

FL2 - anyone have 4 wheel bolts spare?

    Breakers is your best bet.

    Freelander 2 lights in EU

Why do you want to drive a RHD car on the right? Shirley that's just undue risk to you and others. If you want to live somewhere where they drive on the wrong side, get a car with a steering wheel on the wrong side to.

'Snaking' wobble when accelerating. FL2 09 auto

I'd agree if it were going round corners - would changing lane be enough of a 'turn'? Tends to be a 'thumping' as well rather than 'harmonic wobble'.

'Snaking' wobble when accelerating. FL2 09 auto

Think there have been wishbone bushes cause this type of behaviour - not sure if that was F1 or F2 though.

    Over(free)landing

Sounds like a challenge. You might like to research the tyres you want to make sure they are available in Africa. Mismatched tyres cause big problems on Freelander, so if you get a couple of punctures that can't be repaired, your 1 spare won't be enough. You could carry another spare tyre...

Freelander 1 2005 Land Rover Freelander 1 HSE - Loose Gear Selector in Automatic Transmission

Hi, unless you're asking what colour tyres to use, there isn't really such thing as a basic question. As can be seen by the lack of response to your question - doesn't look like people know! I know I don't. There is quite a bit of experience with the linkage mechanism on manual cars, probably...

    Freelander 2 positive battery clamp.

As the F2 is very much Ford based, its probably the right fit. The F2 is also closely related to a Volvo (XC60?) that was developed under Ford ownership.

    Blown fuse tailgate

You still haven't said what year it is - "57 plate" means feck all to me. But don't worry about it, its one of my pet hates when people quote their plate rather than just say what year it is. Grrrr, as if we all live in Blighty. Which fuse was it? If you buy a fob, it won't just work. The...

    Part identification

If you are sure there is oil coming out of it - that is very strange. Have you also been losing coolant? It could be that the cooler is leaking into the IRD. It may be worth draining the IRD to see what comes out. Remember to loosen the fill bolt first as these are soft and can round easily...

    Blown fuse tailgate

Erm, if the a fuse blew, presumably it has blown again - so replacing it would enable you to get the chair out. You don't say what type of Freelander it is 1 or 2 (and spec) - message could be read as light, presume its a 2 confirmed by viewing your profile. You should say what year it is...

Freelander 2 (LR2) my horn has stopped working.

Well I think that tells you its nothing to do with the horn button or steering wheel connections - which was the implied cause of the problem by the garage. Think its time to look at a F2 wiring diagram - find out what controls the horn - eg is there some kind of 'module', whether there is a...
