Noises from behind when full steering

You will get a lot of (damaging) wind up and the VCU will deteriorate very quickly if you have mismatched tyres or you loose air in a tyre and drive on it.

Noises from behind when full steering

Have you done 1 one wheel up test on the reconditioned VCU? Are all your tyres the same make and version and (tested to be) pumped to the same pressure? Have you examined the IRD for wear? eg drained the oil and checked that the bearings are not mashed and suspended in it. Always loosen the...

I would just like to say

Yeh, they'll nick and/or destroy anything. One ripped open the spare tyre cover on the back of my Freelander 1 day. They'll nick tea towel or clothes hanging up to dry at huts, or the shoe laces out of boots. They love it, can't help themselves. Usually soft stuff, but not always...

I would just like to say

Our Keas (alpine Parrots) are cheaky chappies. On Saturday I drove up to Arthurs Pass to meet a campervan that needed some parts replaced on the heater. So took Mrs & Miss Grumpy and the mutt along for the ride up into the mountains. While I sorted the camper, they walked into the village for...

    My 2006 Freelander TD4 Commerical

Nice write up :D There are various threads on here about reinstating prop shafts and the possible perils. Your expectations look to be in the right place ;)

    Restricted performance and EGR block

TBH, I'd have thought that if there was a leak in a fuel hose that was large enough to drop fuel pressure - you wouldn't have needed a garage to tell you that, you'd have seen it for yourself under the car. The hose may have been weeping and needed replacing, but not the reason for the car...

    Restricted performance and EGR block

If the car thinks there's a problem, you need diagnostic kit plugged in to read the error codes. It will tell you why there is an error message on your dash. Then you fix it! Hopefully its something simple. I imagine if the garage say the message has come back, they are not doing diagnostic...

Freelander 2 sd4 xs (2012) gears slipping automatic

Looks like you need some diagnostics. The car thinks/knows something is wrong - you need to find out what it thinks is the problem. If you have the codes read it will tell you the component or give you a pointer to it.

FL2 - MPG On Euro 5 Diesel Auto 2011 On Only

I think there is a low chance of getting low 30's round town, and not a cat in hell's chance of getting mid 30's. I'm going by the dash display though. When figures are that poor, you don't really want confirmation by doing the sums. I do get low 30's out of my manual L Series F1...

FL2 - MPG On Euro 5 Diesel Auto 2011 On Only

Dunno if my 2010 TD4 is Euro 5, VinDecoderz.com says "Emission Directives - EU4 [053BM]", so I presume not... but it is an auto. The dash stubbornly tells me my avg fuel consumption (because it s not fuel economy!) is 11.3L/100km - that's 25mpg. The driving I do in it isn't conducive to good...

    Freelander 1 P scan diagnostic for 98 1.8 Freelander

I found a place over here that said they would overhaul/repair the Wabco modulator. But the unit had to be sent to them for repair so I'd have been without the car for quite a while. It was also expensive. The local Landie spares place also said they could do it... but all they would do is...

Freelander 1 Three Amigos WITH engine light (Solved)

I would imagine something has happened historically that caused the 4 sensors to fault/drop. That would have given a speed related error and faults for all 4 sensors.

    GKN Driveshafts worth it?

I wonder what the view is that with a 50mm lift the shafts are going to be destroyed anyway, so you may as well go cheap. But will they make it to the parts store to pick up their replacements

RESOLVED: Early Freelander 1: dash-mounted cupholder - retaining "locknut" part number or equivalent?

Double sided tape. Although, I'd recommend you stick with the rubber mat. I did what you did and replaced the mat with drinks holder, but hardly used the holder and missed the mat for "putting stuff on" - so went back to the mat.

Freelander 1 L-Series Bosch diesel ECU replacement process?

This is the chap I was talking to about the L Series ECUs. https://www.landyzone.co.uk/members/sail.135201/ He has posted a couple of times on here about ECUs/immobilier. He sounds very much like your long lost Polish twin. :D He is/was active on Polish Rover forum(s) and like you has...
