    ird low grating sound

Dont think its transmission as if i take out of gear when moving the noise seems to be in proportion to the road speed, as it slows down and stops when it comes to a stand still with engine still running. Will drain the ird oil and check for nasties.

Hi all it doesn't have any lift as yet. Thats maybe for the future along with bigger tyres. It looks to have been shortened in the middle cause i can see the welding. I had a leak on the fuel tank a while ago and was told if i needed a new one i would have to have a standard tank shortened...

    2.5 turbo diesel

Just replaced my air filter which was well gummed up oil. It seems to have give the engine a new lease of life. It actually moves a bit quicker when i put my foot on the accelarator! No sign of the engine going into self destruct mode yet. I leave it a week or so and see what happens then i...

    2.5 turbo diesel

Hi butty here Sounds like crankcase pressure cause last night i noticed oil on the road after i parked up. I lifted the bonnet and noticed the dip stick had been ( i assume) blown upwards to allow oil to spill out the top. I took the dip stick all the way out with the engine running and...

    Costly key fob

Hi all My mate only had one keyfob for his freelander and this became faulty due to a broken battery contact. He had to go to landrover who sold him a fob for £30 and charged another £40 for programming it. Is there a cheaper alternative? Thought it seemed a little excessive. Butty

    DIY cambelt change

Hi all Ive just looked at some previous post regarding cam belt changes and they seem expensive. Before i waste my money buying a landrover manual how difficult is it for a diy to tackle this? Any specialist extractors etc required. Cheers Butty

    Viscous coupling

Hi All Just had a look at Ashcroft website and it talks of jacking one wheel and getting an 18 inch bar in the prop shaft and trying to turn it. It dont make it clear but should it turn easy or not at all if its US. Should it be difficult to turn if its ok. Thanks Butty
