The Big Debate - Britpart or S**tpart?

I buy OEM or Genuine parts where it really counts, like anything to do with the engine management system etc. Thats from noticing a cheap lambda sensor made no difference to the MIL coming on. Fitted a real Bosch one and not had a problem since. Same when I replaced the ABS sensors, but I think...

    series 2 alarm troubles !!!

Interesting, that happens to me too. I also notice that if you unlock and re lock as soon as its set the horn off its fine as well. Like you I never looked into it, maybe I will one day if I ever run out of other jobs to do on it :) Regards Ben

    LR giving something back....

An iPhone diagnostics app that connects to the car would be great. Not sure how you would do the hardware bit as apple are quite restrictive on that side of things. I think maybe a wifi or Bluetooth type device would be the best answer. Regards Ben

    Need quick help

Yes. I often write what I think is sensible on my iPhone and find that it has corrected all sorts of words for me in the wrong way! Unless I read it back it's nearly always wrong :)

    Deleting keyfobs from BCU

You can just program over used ones on the Nanocom. Put 6 zeros in the inner keycode slots is the easiest way. Regards Ben

What have you done to your Landie today.

Fitted a new headlight washer on my Disco II, noticed I was using up a lot of screen wash in that bad weather we had. It seems somebody must have driven into the headlight washer in a car park or something...Or maybe just some mindless twisting from somebody. The pipe had snapped where it goes...

What have you done to your Landie today.

Just fixed the rear window washer on my Disco II, has not been working since I bought it 18 months ago! Turned out to be a faulty non return valve in the rear door. Just goes to show I'm getting down to the less important jobs now :-)

disco 2 abs and tc light not working

When I got my disco II the guy had taken the dash off and connected the bulbs up to the oil pressure lamp. So they came on to show they worked but then went off when you started the engine. Very sneaky!!! Once I reconnected them as should be had the 3 lights on and ended up fitting 3 new...

    Climate control

Oddly enough I changed a bulb in mine yesterday (disco II). I did it the rave way which said to take the radio out and then working through the hole release the sprung clips either side and push out. I have to say it was a pig to get my hand in and push the clips. I managed after loosing some...

    Cold heater (HVAC)

The LPG on my Disco II is in parallel with the heater. I suspect that it's better in series really though as in parallel there is the possibility of the flow going through the LPG and not as much through the heater. Regards Ben

Disco 2: getting rid of whirring noise alongside steering column

Nicely done Matt, I cleaned mine about 6 months ago and its been nice and quiet since. I didn't think about grease, that's a good idea. Although it just struck me as I was writing this, could the grease not act as a trap to catch dust more quickly I wonder? Regards Ben

    Key Help please.....

I can't see it being damaged by a jump to be honest. The only way I am aware of testing is to connect diagnostic equipment upto the car. Regards Ben

    Key Help please.....

Plugging a diagnostics tool like testbook or nanocom etc into the car let's you test if the RF unit is working and let's you program keys to the car. There is no way to add a key to the car without programming that I am aware of. Nanocom allows you to do it with the code printed inside the...

    diagnostics shuttle valve electrical fault..

That looks like the one I used, option B in that link. I was able to support the modulator on it's own bracket without any trouble, as eightinavee says certainly no need to disconnect any pipes, so no bleeding needed afterwards! Regards Ben

    diagnostics shuttle valve electrical fault..

I kept getting the fault codes for intermittent shuttle valve (electrical) failure and all other wires and connections looked good and given it is a common problem I figured spending 30 mins doing this fix was going to be a good bet. It took more like an hour by the time I did it all in the end...

    diagnostics shuttle valve electrical fault..

Hi Jay I fixed mine just before Christmas for free. The common problem seems to be a dry joint on the pins in the modulator. The switch plugs into them. The fix is to take the switch off and solder some more wires on, then connect one to earth and one directly into the loom coming off the...

    Which computer to disarm suspension?

Nanocom can do this on the Disco II. I converted my V8 back to air from coils last year and used the Nanocom to switch. If you find yourself in Bristol I can do it for you, just drop me a PM. Ben

    Key Help please.....

I have a nanocom and so if you are ever in the Bristol area I'm happy to hook it up and do the RF test / reprogram the BCU to the key again for you. Ben
