    Freelander Ird removal

Why did you not call us when the unit failed, we sold this unit over 5 months ago? Posting on here that it broke after 200 miles and we never responded to you?? Pick up the phone and call us. I called the mobile number we took the order from you, to be answered by a fitter who now had you...

To sell or not to to sell, that is the question

Reasn we bought disco was the 7 seats, not the 4x4 (although was extremely handy) as I will never own an MPV, hence the qashqui consideration now. I knew it was a bad idea asking here ;)

Guess what's turned up in the post today, a letter from mr fulwell!! Telling us he is not paying the deposit as the our unit failed. Now why did it ake near on 5 months to hear from you? Surprise surprise he hasn't got our old unit anymore as the "garage" who replaced it kept it? So where is the...

As long as theft is knowingly not paying for an item i have a perfectly good case ;)

    Freelander Ird removal

That IRD is not one of ours. To be honest that looks like the usual damaged caused when a tooth has sheared off, it then passes between the gears and forces them apart, cracking the casing. If anyone has a problem with any of our goods, or anyone elses for that matter, first port of call...

Doesnt that tell you something, 3 knackered IRD's, doesn't that point to something causing it!!!!

To sell or not to to sell, that is the question

I've got a black 02 plate (pre facelift) TD5 ES premium with all the toys, 83k miles with FSH. The wife has had the car for about 18months now and all i've had to do is the rear airbags, a relay and a couple of trackrods ends. The MPG is killing the missus's finances so we were considering...

Should i hear the EAS valves clicking when ignition is off?

In the last week the back of the disco has started sinking over night, mainly on the one side, can't work out if the otherside is going down too or if its just the extra weight on it. On start up it level straight away. I've checked with soapy water the bags, pipes and connection to compression...

burning smell after re fitting prop

VCU is either very tight or the tyres are mismatched. The burning smell was probably the rear diff burning its oil and blowing it out of the breather

    Chnaged Tyres: Noise and Vibration

The rolling radius of the front and rear tyres are different, the vcu can slip a small amount to take up these differences but yours are too far out. It is over slipping the vcu, causing it to over heat and seize. It is causing horric wear to your IRD and rear diff, and will destroy them very...

Think I have found the whine on overrun noise

I'd say that they the incorrectly fitted diff flange bolt (as I said in your first post) after the seal replacement and this has wrecked the bearing. Just refitting a newseal and new crush washer has done nothing. I'd ask them to suppply you witha new diff

    reconditioned IRD and VCU?

£200 for ours, £370-800 for original depending on where you buy them or what deals are knocking about

    reconditioned IRD and VCU?

I already have, buy a properly reconditioned vcu and it is as good as a new one. The thread regarding the dodgy VCU's has been deleted, so i wont start that again

    reconditioned IRD and VCU?

What do you mean by that? faulty repairs, dodgy VCU's or just bad advice??? VCU's fail due to general wear, but the lifespan can be reduced dramatically by running mismatched tyres, worn tyres or running low tyre pressures. Matching of the rolling radius is the biggest thing to get right, do...

    reconditioned IRD and VCU?

no offence taken ;) Not had time to polish up the cut out section to see if it was welded up or not.

    reconditioned IRD and VCU?

Obviously i do, but they are. We have done over 600 of them now and only ever had 2 returned, and these were only because it was blamed for other faults not related to the VCU.

    reconditioned IRD and VCU?

Recon VCU is as good as new and will last just as long, only difference is the price.
