That IRD is not one of ours. To be honest that looks like the usual damaged caused when a tooth has sheared off, it then passes between the gears and forces them apart, cracking the casing. If anyone has a problem with any of our goods, or anyone elses for that matter, first port of call...

VCU is either very tight or the tyres are mismatched. The burning smell was probably the rear diff burning its oil and blowing it out of the breather

The rolling radius of the front and rear tyres are different, the vcu can slip a small amount to take up these differences but yours are too far out. It is over slipping the vcu, causing it to over heat and seize. It is causing horric wear to your IRD and rear diff, and will destroy them very...

I'd say that they the incorrectly fitted diff flange bolt (as I said in your first post) after the seal replacement and this has wrecked the bearing. Just refitting a newseal and new crush washer has done nothing. I'd ask them to suppply you witha new diff

I already have, buy a properly reconditioned vcu and it is as good as a new one. The thread regarding the dodgy VCU's has been deleted, so i wont start that again

Obviously i do, but they are. We have done over 600 of them now and only ever had 2 returned, and these were only because it was blamed for other faults not related to the VCU.

Recon VCU is as good as new and will last just as long, only difference is the price.
