    disco 300 tdi tailgate

there is another spring, but i've never known it to give trouble. You might be better of taking the latch out. You'll see both springs, they are similar. If by turning the key you can open the door, it could be the usual spring, it doesn't have to be broken to be at fault. Mine was in one piece...

    disco 300 tdi tailgate

It does sound like the spring, but it could also be a linkage has come off/loose some were. If it was the spring though you would be able to lift the button and open it. If you can't without taking the dor card off then i would say it's one of the linkages.

    newbiee with questions

I wonder if the previous owner has turned the fuel pump up on your disco. If it was me, i would start from the tank and check back for leaks, check the sedimentor, fuel filter area etc. Are your tyre pressures correct, air filter clean. You might get a bit better eonomy when you blank off the...

    newbiee with questions

You should be getting better than 224 miles on a run with 60 quid (that's range rover territory). I get 190+ on 30 quid. Reckon it might want a service to start with.

40-45 miles on a tenner. i'll second #2 with the gearbox oil idea. Cheap and easy to do. If the EGR hasn't been blanked off you could do this, and i would give the intercooler a clean out also. might get a it more power and economy!

    problem with brakes

Have you checked the servo unit? Just press the brake pedal with the engine off until it gets hard, then start her up with you foot on the brake. the pedal should go down a it. Switch the car off again and pump the pedal again, it should firm up. If not it's the servo or the heck valve.

    intercoolers

It's an easy job. If you undo the bolts on the radiator top cover, undo the hoses and the intercooler just slides out. I used petrol to clean it and a lot of ****e came out, you might need to repeat it a couple of times.I just bunged one end up, quarter filled it with petrol and shook it up...

    intercoolers

I don't know about a td5 one, but you an get bigger ones to fit yours. Think they may be expensive though. Have you cleaned yours yet? It made a big difference to mine and is really easy to do!

    Hammerite My Rusty Door Frame...

I did the door locks and had the same problem, took the fram off nd it was a bit rusty at the bottom. Didn't do anything at the time, but hammerite or smoothrite would do the trick. You could get the satin black smoothrite in a spray an and do the whole frame even. Might have a go myself!

    seized diff lock

I had this problem with mine, same as above. There is a metal surround that holds a sound insulator in place, you need to drill the rivets out to remove it When i got to the oily bits i just blasted a load of wd40 into it and left it a while, you can give the lever some force to get it back...

    More rust!

The sealy is gasless, so you need the flux wire, but it performs great outside! You an get the wire quite cheap also. Screwfix have a 100 amp one in for less than 100 quid!

    More rust!

You could buy second hand or hire one. There are plenty of places that do new one at a good price though! A sealy mighty mig 100amp gasless is 130 quid!
