The engine works to come degree, it still smokes too much though. In the end i sorn'd it. A defender came up at a price i just could not refuse. The series will be rebuild over the next year and hopefully be back on the road this time next year.

I bought a 1992 200TDI 90 with 150k on the clock, solid chassis with only two patches of welding. Bulkhead needs top corners but otherwise a very solid landy. All for £1200

I'd take a guess at that being the army reg number, can use that to find history of the landy

Changed the rear door lock as the old one was very tempermental and i didnt want to leave it unlocked in the marsh car park. Will give it a clean and check all fluid levels tomorrow.

I'm with flux as well on the defender. I took my series 3 off the road recently so i can do a proper rebuild on it. I usually wave at series's so if you get waved at by a blue k reg fender then it might be me!

Looked at the series as i went out to feed the animals. Then went and got the new 90 MOT'd and paid for it, then insured it. Waiting for docs to be emailed to me so i can tax it now!

OK, i know this question could be solved easily by going and looking at the defender, but its 8 miles away and i forgot to check yesterday and i need to order parts tonight. Its a genuine 200tdi 90, i need to replace drop arm ball joint, as was going to just buy a whole new drop arm with ball...

Air in system causes the brakes to need pumping. Adjusters on back wheels need taking back abit to bring shoes in to allow drum to slide off

Looked at the series when i went into the garden. Then went over and took a friends defender in for an mot as i'm thinking of buying it, only 6 fails and they were all simple ones!

You need to use mordant solution on the galv first so that the paint will stick to it.

Personally i'd go the whole hog and get them t-washed and then a good coat of paint and then underseal, the more protection on there the better

You can modify a defender hand brake which is shorter. You must be sitting funny or have funny shaped legs because i'm 6ft 4ish and heavy built and i find no problems with the hand brake. My leg rests up against it but it aint uncomfortable

2.25 derv, had top end rebuild after timing chain went wrong and smashed all push rods up, recon injectors and pump. Did all the timing but still cannot get the smoke down, not using any oil or anything, just smokes like a bugger underload. Clear tickover!
