 Hello, I am a new member and just wondered if anyone could help me find out what series my new Land Rover is!
The registration certificate says it was first registered on 1/5/1972 but "(DECL/D MANUF 1961)"
The chassis number (which I've taken from a metal plate riveted to the dash!) is 24100469A and says its "TRUCK ROVER MK 8/2".
You have to remove the driver's seat to fill her up: I thought series 2 landys had filler caps behind the driver's door?
The metal plate also gives a vehicle no 05DM35. There is a "cont no" and "code no" and I can give details of these if this helps - but I don't know when this plate was added to the vehicle.
I could send photos if this helped!?
I would really appreciate any info.

Hello, the wolf
Thanks for your speedy response ... and you are quite right I should of introduced myself first!
You are right - the previous owner told me the landy was an ex-service vehicle... it's just weird why the petrol tank has to be filled up by taking the driver's seat out (series 1 style) and she has 4 headlights (series 2 and 3 style).
Is there anywhere I can contact to give the chassis and vehicle numbers to see if they can shed any light?
Look forward to hearing from you again: what vehicles do you have?

It should have a bog standard VIN, army or not. Plus stick up some photos and a few other members will be able to identify in no time. I don't know series I'm afraid, I'm a fender man

Ah cheers the wolf. I will get the misses to take some pickies and post them as you suggest.
I've had lots of fenders in my time: what have you got at the mo?

military rovers used to have twin tanks both filled under the seats, nothing odd there, many military rovers were plated on year of release but declared manufactured year built, most military rovers were cast after an average of ten years so a 72 declared 61 is spot on and normal, later for a spell they were q plated

cheers steve

I'd take a guess at that being the army reg number, can use that to find history of the landy
