    Which Filter Kit ?

Personally, I have never bought an after-market filter where fluids are concerned. I just don't think its worth the risk. So pays your money and take your chances. T

Tow hook - same for Disco 1/2?

Also consider whether you would be better off with an adjustable drop plate as opposed to fixed. Mine is fixed and tows the caravan perfectly, but if I was to put on 2" lift kit it would be rendered useless :( TONY

I know what it says, but to say that a new vehicle does not need self-levelling (because of EU Type Approval) and then to say a retro fitted kit needs it is a bit daft. TONY

    headlamp/diving lamp bulb recommendations

The pattern on mine is absolutely perfect. As far as self-levelling is concerned, my Nissan X-Trail with factory HID's used me with a 10mm socket to adjust the level. On my Disco the headlamp level works very well. '0' when solo and '3' when towing. I do recommend washers for the headlamps...

    Discovery II problem

First check that you have fully seated connector in front of cylinder head for the injector loom. Then check your plugs on the ECU for oil contamination. If you have a FPR problem then this normally means a diesel leak from the 'bowl' due to a failed 'O' ring. Other than that it could be a...

    Heater Blower stopped HELP!

Mine has just stopped on a couple of occassions, but switching it off then on again seemed to fix it. Assuming you have tried that then I would removed the blower motor and connect it directly to a battery. If it spins then you are looking for an electrical, wiring or switch fault. If it...

TD5 Head Gasket & PAS Box Replaced - Job Done! (Long)

Well after many hours, I have now completed the replacement of the Head Gasket and Power Steering Box on my 1998 Discovery 2 TD5. My vehicle has FSH and has covered 94,200 miles. In true Land Rover style there were no obvious symptoms of the HG failure until I started to get tiny air...

    Fake odometer reading???

As was said earlier its a doddle with a laptop and the right software. Even cars like BMW, Merc and VAG which store the mileage in the odometer, ECU and key can all be frigged. One lad at work bought a Passat with 58K showing on the clock. He had some work done at main dealer who centralise...

Discovery 2 (TD5) rear brake calipers...

I have had an aftermarket one on the rear for over 2 years with no issues. I will be buying 2 front ones soon as dust seals have gone and I have already had to free the piston off. Rears are about £40 each T

Last resort, is rad blocked and causing pressurising problems?

I suspected mine was blocked on the D2 so bought a new one for £85 + VAT. I did a flow test on the old one and there was sod all wrong with it (hence why now doing the head) Assuming 300 TDi rad is similar to mine then remove it and stand it vertically on its end so you have the inlet /...

    Steering Wheel Judder

Yes it is if you don't bed them in. I have a track car and some idiot managed to warp a pair of brand new Group 'N' perlitic iron discs in one 15 minute session at Oulton Park. He wasn't so smug when I gave him the bill. T

    inlet manifold, radiator and intercooler

Inlet manifold and intercooler should be soaked ideally overnight in paraffin, petrol or brake cleaner. Make sure they are thoroughly dry and all fumes have gone before refitting (I use the wife's hairdryer). I also took my inlet manifold to local hot jet wash. Radiator should just be flushed...

    insurance advice

I think most insurers are crap. The company who insure our fleet are trying to suggest that we had something to do with stripping 3 motors of parts whilst they were parked up for the weekend. Unfeckinbelievable  T
