    Classic Diff problem

Small update, garage said they started to reverse the car of the ramp, then clunk, clunk, clunk, then no drive. Crunches when put into park. Put it back up on the ramp and there is a small bit of drive to the back wheels but not enough too be the car. Just going to print off James advice above

    Classic Diff problem

James I promise to stop bursting your balls but is there anything I can suggest the garage try to diagnose if it's the diff or not, or anything in particular?

Zen did you say what diff you had? I'd rather give you the money

    Classic Diff problem

Haha and I thought it was sinking in. Was on how stuff works there but I'm too hungover to process one of the pictures haha. So I'm getting the transfer box bit, so if there's the cara getting no drive at all, it shouldn't be the front diff that's causing the problem? Thankfully with the...

Sorry mate it's just sunk in. The other possible faults you mentioned, would they all be cured by replacing the diff?

Thanks mate, I'll reply to your help in the other post, it's now started to make sense after re reading the above

    Classic Diff problem

Thanks James, this is about 10 levels too advanced for me, the spacers for the diff I understand but see if the front diff has basically collapsed ('**** itself' is our technical term) would that stop any drive going to any wheels or am I getting confused with a transfer box here? If there's...

    Classic Diff problem

Yeh just read on an eBay listing the rear is 3 bolt. I've got a gearbox specialist I use regularly, contemplating giving him the diff to rebuild since it sounds a bit hard to make sure I get the right part. Mind you it only sounds a headache if I'm swapping the full axel. He's good but...

Hi mate, many thanks. Basically what the garage have initially diagnosed, it happened late on Friday just when it was coming off the ramps to go for MOT. A kinda clunk clunk noise is all I remember, was too busy being devastated haha. Then just after its stopped moving when selecting gear...

    Classic Diff problem

Thanks for all the advice gents. So it's actually a 24 spline diff I need, glad I asked now! I think eBay is going to be the best shout if it's an easy fix, saves me worrying about axels which might not have ABS. So any 24 spline diff for a landrover/discovery will do? Sorry I'm not technical...

    Classic Diff problem

Morning Gents, Think I have a problem with the front Diff on my classic. I've sourced one from a friend who is sure the 10 spline diff and front axle of an older classic will fit, to be honest I wouldn't doubt him but was wondering if anyone on here can clarify? I take it it's fairly easy to...

All work done for MOT then reverse off the ramps and think the front prop has collapsed, not good. Have been trying to find some details on the forum about them but can't find a great deal. I'm assuming it's a 10 spline. Got one to pickup but just hope that's all that's wrong. It's the...

Any Range Rover Classic owners need a new alarm fob?

I've got 2 of these with my Discovery and the one for the Classic the buttons dodgy. Is it possible to reprogramme one from the Disco to work on the Classic? If not I would be interested in getting a new one if mines is suitable Mike. The remotes are the same as the ones in the ebay link

So the girlfriend crashed the car...

I'll get flamed for suggesting this especially with it not being a landrover but for 2k the Suzuki Jimnys are great especially for females who don't have a clue about switching 4wd. I sourced my mate an 03 model and we took it offroading that day and through several 4 foot deep water passes and...

Good shout Mike, I'll be the only one driving it so even if I can get the seat into a comfortable position I'll be sorted. I did read somewhere the other week about reversing the polarity or somehow by passing the seat switch to adjust it. I can't see my wife ever driving it anyways, she's...
