    VCU Replacement

Thought I'd give Bell' a ring to check prices but I'm not sure where they are. Googled it and there is one coming up in Sheffield. Is that the one.

    VCU Replacement

The island VCU was the one i was thinking of. Just wanted an opinion of whether the refurbs were any good.I definitely need to change the nearing the bearing though it felt & sounded lumpy when i spun it. Thanks for the advice anyway.

    VCU Replacement

I took the advice from previous threads on how to test it and confirmed that my VCU was knackered. Took it off today (quite straightforward actually) and now need advice on whether to get brand new one @ £400 (approx) or a reconditioned one. There's a company called Bell who i think recon them...

    Is this bad?

Thanks for the advice. Looks like i need to book a few days off work.

    Is this bad?

The thought was a worn (3-4mm tread) 255 60 18 tyre would be the same rolling circumference as a brand new (7-8mm tread) 255 55 18. Sounds really stupid now but when i was told it seemed to make sense. Anyway moving forward, Is the VCU part of the flange that that the front prop bolts to and if...

    Is this bad?

I've been having problems when on full lock. Getting transmission wind up then a clunk. Seemed to be ok when driving straight so i assumed a VCU problem. I've taken the front prop off and its now going fine. Having read a few lines about how a vcu works, if i understand it; there are plates...

Anyone got any ideas on how to eject my CD magazine?

    Advice for a long journey

Thanks for all the advice. Dont think its the white plugs behind the kick panel (as they look fine). Also i changed all the o rings in the valve block about 8 months ago. I did notice that the white stuff in the air dryer was soaking wet. I dried it out (as recommended) but is that normal. I've...

    Advice for a long journey

Hi. ive got a long journey planned this week (south wales to Harrogate and back) and was looking for a little advice/reassurance. Firstly the car has developed an annoying trait of rising up to wade height on its own. It only happens when i'm going up hill and turning at the same time, usually...

    P38 Diesel

Haven't been on here for a while, partly because my P38 has been going well (i've jinxed it now) and partly because i haven't got the knowledge of some of the senior members, BUT. I had exactly this problem and it caused me weeks of headaches. Finally i worked out that when i replaced my filter...

Thanks. I think i need to do a bit more investigating.

    Uphill Parking

It's had the pump done at some stage because ive noticed the cut out under the rear seat. When you say check it, what do you mean? It's obviously working because it runs without a problem but should there be some sort of non return valve which may have failed.

    Uphill Parking

Anyone had this problem before. I've recently noticed that when i park uphill overnight, then it takes two or three turns to start in the morning. No issues downhill, starts first time every time (since i changed the glow plugs). It's like the diesel has run back to the tank and it takes a while...

    2.5DT oil filter leak

I know this thread is a little old but i think i've just worked out the problem (because i've been having the same problem and its been driving me around the bend). There's a little seat about 1 thread from the top and when you seat the 'o' ring in that it seems to go inside the housing rather...

    Steering wheel shake + vibration

I agree with the possibility of it being prop shaft UJ. I had a similar problem. Is it more pronounced on deceleration?

What does that mean? Is it serviceable or does it need replacing. Can i let it develop or is it dangerous?

    Rpm

I just noticed that when i took my auto diesel P38 onto the motorway my rpm was higher than normal. I was travelling at about 70mph and they were at 3000+. Pulled in and moved it up and down the box once while stationary and pulled back off. They then dropped to their normal level of about...
