Think the time has come to get rid!

mileage matters little on older cars...they tend to be bought and sold based on condition rather than miles..... Ive never known anyone correct miles for this reason. If you sold it on later you cover yourself by giving a written receipt stating new engine fitted and mileage was incorrect.

Think the time has come to get rid!

If its an L series diesel (pre TD4 ) that engines in a lot of different vehicles..... 220 bubble shape rovers...420...poss 620 also. There are others to. look into buying a whole car with no tax or test.....with a good engine then transplant. This way you get tons of spares...alternators starter...

    L series top intake hose

Hi matt, Im on a similar train of thought, only im gunna start looking round scrap yards for as large a intercooler as I can find to fit to my L series hippo so I will be looking for pattern type intercooler pipes. Larger intercooler = more power its really that simple. So if you or anyone else...

    Clutch Replacement

Prob not turbo then, if its a whistle or a squeak and that's the only symptom id check further before spending big dosh on a clutch...check clutch pedal foe a squeak in clevis pin....also check master cylinder and bracket as hydraulics can make noises to.

    replacing dead l series engine

yeah I guess the shaft would be longer than normal but im sure it would work....interesting hippo it would make lol. As for head, if your doing the belts the only extra expense would be a head gasket. which power version of the 220 do you have.....the higher powered engine has the larger...

    replacing dead l series engine

Ive seen drive shafts cut and rewelded back longer haveing been sleeved in the middle. You have to be capable of welding to a high standard and accuracy getting the shaft straight. Then they need balancing in same way you would a prop shaft. On gearbox and bell housing front....are the gear...

    Freelander clutch issues

All this is guesswork.... I reckon theres good cause to pull the IRD and gearbox off. Its the only way to get a definite diagnosis. Im in middle off dramas off my own..... complete loss off drive. Finished pulling IRD out after theorising for a few days....turns out the diff has shattered inside...

    replacing dead l series engine

You reckon there would be the option off leaving the rover 200 box in situ and do away with the freelander G/Box and IRD. wonder if the drive shafts would fit or need them cutting and rewelding to a diff length, balance up and away lol... Assuming your FWD of course.

    replacing dead l series engine

I buy biodiesel made from waste veg oil from a friend at £1 a litre, I have to say he is good at this and very knowledgeable, therefore his fuel I regard highly. When I first used it I simply put 40 litres into a nearly empty tank (engine already warmed up) and drove it. It ran perfectly from...

    replacing dead l series engine

Be interesting to see just whats needed to do an engine transplant. Have wondered before if its possible as they are the same basic motor and IMO a superior engine to the TD4. ( I run on bio diesel and TD4 wont )

    replacing dead l series engine

Ive replaced injectors in a hippo with used ones from scrappy taken from a rover 220 SDI and they fitted and worked fine.....Are you sure you need to swap these ?

    Freelander clutch issues

When you press the clutch pedal the operating arm on the gearbox housing slides into the bell housing and acts on the clutch bearing pushing it into the 'fingers' on the clutch pressure plate....thereby disengaging the clutch to make gear shifts......if the pedal travels to the floor....and you...
