    Thats it, it's fcuked!

Well I think thats the end of the P38! I think this all started with a leaking throttle body heater plate gasket. A couple of days ago the temp gauge kept twitching about all over the place. So had a good look under the bonnet and found the heater plate to be leaking. Replaced the heater...

    System too Lean Bank 1 and 2 - 4.6 V8

Thank you for your valued and knowledgeable input. I will now just change the MAF on the basis of this and see what improvements are made. I assume that a simple disconnection of the battery for a few hours is not enough to reset the adaptive values? On my E46 M3 the car had to be connected...

    System too Lean Bank 1 and 2 - 4.6 V8

Thanks for the advice. I have been experimenting with the MAF sensor being connected and then disconnected. The car seems to be better with it disconnected, however it is only a mild improvement, the revs still seem to be struggling to rise with it disconnected. I will replace the MAF as it...

    System too Lean Bank 1 and 2 - 4.6 V8

Been noticing a little hesitation in some rev ranges so decided to put the code reader on the car. Had 3 codes stored. System too Lean Bank 1 System too Lean Bank 2 And there was also a code which I did not read fully which mentioned O2 sensor. However that code has cleared itself. Now I...

    Ride Characteristics?

Just a little update. The wandering has pretty much disappeared from the car now after the wheel and tyre change to 16's. The steering damper has a little play so this will be replaced forthwith. which should improve things even further. The noise from the diffs has improved with different...

    Ride Characteristics?

I did think this maybe the tyres, but surely they would make noise at all times, not just while de-accelerating? I would have thought that more movement in the tyre wall would amplify any wandering, but then I am certainly no expert in chassis dynamics.

    WANTED: 16" Wheels & Tyres - Swap/PX for 18's ?

Yes, this forum and other Range Rover forums have been very helpful, as with most automotive forums, they are invaluable when it comes to solving problems etc. I have some mechanical knowledge so not completely in the dark! I have updated one of the other threads with regard to the ride with...

    Ride Characteristics?

Well what can I say. I have today had 4 brand new 16" alloy wheels with 4 brand new General Grabber UHP 225/65/16 fitted to the P38. The ride of the car has been transformed. There is still a slight wander on certain road surfaces, so I think some bushes still need to be changed. But the ride...

    Ride Characteristics?

Thanks all for your responses. Seems there are a few avenues to explore. However, I have since taken the car to Devon 4x4 who will be undertaking the work to put it right as to be honest I simply dont have the correct tools to carry out the job in the proper manner. Probably best to just pay...

    Ride Characteristics?

Thanks for the info. But can I clarify a few points before I take a spanner to the car! Which nut is this, the one on top of the box with the hex screw in the centre of it? I take it you mean to adjust the hex screw clockwise? Can you expand a little on this please, when you say pre-load...

Thanks everyone for your valued input so far. WSLR, I have a few further question for you, if you could expand a little on some of what you have written, that would be great! Regarding the bushes, I have read in a few different places that replacing the bushes for Poly bushes has improved...

    WANTED: 16" Wheels & Tyres - Swap/PX for 18's ?

Yes, sorry a P38 I agree, finding the worn part is the best course of action. But I am getting fed up with it. All I have done for the last 2 days is read countless posts on countless forums about this poxy problem which it seems a lot of RR's suffer from. Yet no one seems to have a solution...

Hi all, I my quest to rid my car of its tramlining/wandering I am going to try a set of 16" wheels and tyres to see if this helps the problem, as I have read it may well be as simple as changing to a 16" wheel! I have cash waiting to buy 16's with good tyres if you have any. Or I may swap my...

Interesting, did not think of the radius arms. Damper seems straight forward to replace, radius arm bushes look like a different animal!
