Just been offered an '02 Freelander TD4

Hi Folks, Just been offered an '02 TD4 freelander in swap for my 2WD runabout. I know from reading posts here that Landy die hards don't have much time for them , but are they really a dog ? I'm quite tempted to be honest, but if it's going to end up costing me a bomb I'll walk away...

Rear spring removal - bolt catching on tank

The clamps aren't corroded, well not to excess. It's that you have to grind the old ones off. They dont unscrew, hence my question. Went into a local Landy specialist today and he told me to make some myself out of some flat bar.

Rear spring removal - bolt catching on tank

Yeah and it's only 5 miles away :D Yes please. Let me know how much you want and where to send the dosh :) While I am here can anyone tell me if there are after market brackets/clamps to replace the ones in the pics. I can make my own up but wasnt sure what an MOT tester would make of that...

Rear spring removal - bolt catching on tank

OUch! No , was definitely going to use a hack saw on this one. Don't how long it takes. Just put £20 of unleaded in it as well :mad:

Rear spring removal - bolt catching on tank

Really? Surprised that Haynes don't mention the need to move the tank out of the way. I'll cut the bugger off then :D

Rear spring removal - bolt catching on tank

Hi , as per the title . Trying to remove the O/S/R spring and the bolt that goes through the front shackle snags on the tank. Has someone put it in the wrong way or do I have to raise/lower the fuel tank to get this bolt out  Obviously I could cut it off, just wanted to make...

    Weller wheel swap for original

Hi, I've got the wheels below on my Landy, which remind of some Weller wheels I had on a mini once. I really want the original wheels on it. I have no idea as to the desirability of these wheels. Am I likely to get a straight swap for originals ?

Halfords breaker bar ... um broke :/

I know that they couldn't agrue the fact that it came from them , as you rightly state it has 'Halfords' stamped on it. I'll ring them first, then go in for a fight if they say no. :D

Wasn't a Britpart exhaust was it ?

Halfords breaker bar ... um broke :/

Bought a Halfords 'professional' breaker bar a month ago and it snapped yesterday. Only used the bloody thing about 5 times. Personally I think there is a cast problem because as I understand it the pin is supposed to break before the bar, but the pin is in tact. The problem I have got is...

    Welding questions .....(numpty)

Thanks Wriggler. My local hire shop only has gasless Mig welders and all the web tutorials I have read use gas migs. Is it much different or am i wasting my time with gasless ?

    Welding questions .....(numpty)

Hi folks, I contemplating trying a little welding on my Landy myself. I did have a go at mig welding many years ago, but I didn't have a clue on what wire to use, what materials to weld etc etc. So I have a few Q's. I'm looking at hiring a 140amp mig welder, can you tell me what wire I...

    Britpart and others

It was actually the front ones that were Armstrongs and the rears were Britparts. Want to hazard a guess which set took me 15 mins per side and which took over an hour per side ? Britpart suck!:mad::mad:

    88'' SWB Petrol - Slowwwwwwwwww

It's running fairly rich as it stinks of petrol and will start with virtually no choke.

    Britpart and others

Thanks for the Dingocroft recommendation. I wanted to build up a list of good suppliers. Google gives you a list but you cant beat personal recommendation :)

    Britpart and others

The shocks were the H/D ones. Don't really know why I ordered them other than the price difference was minimal. The rears that have come are Armstrong shocks, it's just the front set that are Britpart. Just didnt really want to be replacing them after 6 months coz they are made of cheese :(

    Britpart and others

Hi folks, Just ordered a few bits from Paddocks, 4xshocks/swivel seals/sump gasket. One set of the shocks are manufactured by Britpart. I just came across another thread where everyone seemed to think Britpart parts were a complete waste of time and money :( Is there another reasonably...
