    Bleeding radiator/cooling systems

Hi, Had a bit of a problem with my 2002 Freelander 1 TD4 cooling system at the weekend. I was travelling on motorway towing a horse box, going up a hill noticed temp gauge rising and loss of power. Pulled over and allowed things to cool down. Topped up expansion tank, well I say topped up, it...

Wiring up separate switch for horn?

Next thing will be to check out the rotary coupler, it also has me wondering that if the coupler is faulty & source of the horn buttons failure could it also mean that the airbag would not deploy if it was needed

Wiring up separate switch for horn?

Once again, thanks so much to Pauls for his help. Disconnected battery had a 30 minute + cup of tea wait for airbag to discharge allowed me time to wire up switch at my desk & then about 10-15 minutes work to disassemble steering wheel cover, release terminals, connect up & reassemble. Now it's...

Wiring up separate switch for horn?

Paul, Many thanks for all your help. Battery disconnected, timer set for 40 minutes (to be on safe side) and then it'll wiring time, fingers crossed that I'll be beeping soon :) Dave

Wiring up separate switch for horn?

Paul, Could you confirm that I'm reading things right from diagrams, my reading is that I essentially need to connect PY Pin 3 on C0082 through a switch to B Pin 4 on C0082? Or is there an easier location to connect to a good earth? Thanks Dave

Wiring up separate switch for horn?

Yep, the radio was replaced before I got the car. Now has a a Sony CD Player. I've had a look behind the radio and there appears to be 3 wires in the original loom that are no longer connected to anything.

Wiring up separate switch for horn?

Thanks for that. Now to find the right wires going to rotary coupler to see if I can splice into them, altough that involves being near circuit for airbag, so perhaps not.

Wiring up separate switch for horn?

I bought a TD4 at the end of January, shortly after taking delivery I found neither of the horn switches/buttons on steering wheel work. The horn itself seems fine, I left door open and used key fob to try lock car, the horn sounded. I'm guessing it's a problem with the rotary coupler and...

    HELP with my HORN...pleeeeease!!!

Thanks for that. Guess it's roll up the sleeves time. Having looked at the circuit diagrams I just can't see any link between the radio buttons & the horn, there again, the circuit diagrams might not actually reflect what is in place in the car. But first stop will be check earth on the rotary...

    HELP with my HORN...pleeeeease!!!

Lucky you, RandomBoy. Can anyone tell me where "HEADER 0723 (K109)" is located on a 2002 Freelander. From looking at the ciruit diagram for the Rotary Coupler it seems that the ground for the rotary coupler is connected to HEADER 0723 (K109). I'd like to avoid removing the steering wheel and...

    HELP with my HORN...pleeeeease!!!

I have the same problem with a 2002 TD4 I bought recently. The radio was replaced before I got the car, so wondering/thinking that's the source of me problems. But I haven't seen any posts on how to correct the problem, have you any pointers, it would be much appreciated.

    Wiper Arm Removal

I don't suppose you happen to have the part number of the trim covering, it seems to be called the "windscreen leading edge cowl" but haven't been able to locate a p/n for it. My 2002 Freelander went back to the dealer I bought it from because the driver side rear wheel was binding (handbrake)...

What have you done to your Freelander today

All being sorted as I type, nice to deal with a 2nd hand dealer who doesn't try mess you about.

What have you done to your Freelander today

I got the AA to transport my Freelander back to the garage I bought it from two weeks ago. The clutch master cylinder needs to be replaced and the handbrake seems to be binding after it's released. Oh, the HDC switch seems faulty, the wipers stopped working, the horn buttons on steering wheel...

My First Own Car .. Now What To Do ?

Thanks to OP from posting, I just bought a TD4 but not my first car (think it's my 9th car), first car was a 2nd hand 1980 Ford Fiesta. Thanks to Singvogel for practical checks and to WLJayne for suggestions. Those light guards are actually fairly affordable, the idea of a nudge bar is...

Did what it said on the tin

I just bought a 2002 TD4, why didn't I get a Disco? Simples, couldn't afford one. The humble freelander stood to me well at the weekend when we got the first snows over here and I needed to get up above the snowline. I had a Mondeo before the Freelander, it was good in snow but I know there is...

    Horn/Radio problem

Sorry for resurrecting an old thread, thought it was better than starting a new one for what seems to be a similar problem. I just bought a 2002 TD4. I have similar issue, horn buttons on steering wheel don't work but horn is working if I attempt to lock car with one door open. I've noticed a...

    Noise, noise, bl**dy noise.....

Newbie here, another vote for checking tyres. My father bought a Jag 2 years ago, was getting a odd noise from rear which came in around 30mph and went about 40mph. Turned out wrong tyres fitted and seems at that speed they rubbed somewhere on wheel arch, altough I guess rubbing on a Freelander...
