    split pipes

Hi All, I have what I think are vacume pipes, that come from the throttle linkage, cruise control unit and somewhere else I can never follow it to the end, but they all come to a T piece. They are forever splitting and causing problems, to be honest I think they are just old and need...

    Faulty Vaporiser

Hi All, I have a single point lpg system, I have an Emmergas (or something like that) vaporiser which I think is faulty. Now a guy has quoted me £200.00 to fit a new one, but I can get one cheaper off ebay. I would be happy to change it myself but have been told I would need a computer to...

Why did you buy a disco!!

I had only ever owned small hatchbacks like the Vauxhall Nova, Astra, Corsa. Then my dad got himself a 1998 Series 1 V8 Disco, he let me drive it once and from that moment I fell in love with it, it is very comfortable, doesnt get stuck in snow or flood water, it has tons and tons of space...

Does your landy start ok on LPG ??

In the winter time, when the engine is cold I start on petrol and run it for about half a mile then switch over to LPG. In the summer time, I mostly just start on LPG, I save a fortune in petrol in the summer months. Although, sometimes the LPG system is a bit lumpy and backfires, blows...

    engine wont stop running help!!

Hi, The fuse box does cause all kinds of issues with the P38 and even second hand fuse boxes arent cheap, however, your problem sounds to me like and ignition switch, it sounds like it's stuck. I only say that because like you say you can only shut down the engine when you take the relay...

I agree with Discool, download rave, to go along side your haynes manual. Using those and this forum and you will be good to go.

    not starting

The d1's have an immobiliser that kicks in if you unlock the door with the key. You need the unlock code that you input using the key in the ignition, you are not going to start the disco without either a fob or an unlock code. John

    lpg 47kg bottle

but just as a side note, it would probably be safer to just use petrol, if you roll the disco and the gas bottle is not strapped down properly you would rip the gas connection to the pipe and you would leak masses of gas into the cab, either being killed by a gas explosion or just choking on the...

    lpg 47kg bottle

We use an LPG bottle on the fork lift truck at work and that sits on its side and it is definatly empty when I swap it over for a new one, also the lpg tanks on my disco are on there side under the sills and I empty those rugular lol. John

    200TDi and 3.9i V8 advise

My heart lies with the Disco 1, loads of boot space, you can configure them to do anything, works hard and looks great when looked after. I agree that the v8's are thirsty beast's but if you fit an LPG kit or get one with an LPG kit already fitted then they cost around the same as a deisal to...

    How reliable is your Disco

I have a 98, 3.9ltr V8i Automatic with 181.650 miles on the clock, we do around 270 miles per week most weeks and it has never missed a beat. I have had morning's where it would not turn over without a spray of wd40 but that was due to neglect on the HT Leads and Dizzy cap. I have also had...

Solar Panels for expeditions / camping

I have seen them used on converted land rovers that are used for camping, they look like a good idea to me. My dad has a solar trikle charger hooked up to his RR P38, to help keep the battery charged, I even thaught about getting one for my caravan. John

    Land Rover Mechanics Course

I know everyone slags them off, they always show you the long way round everything and are sometimes as much use as a chocolate fire guard BUT I would get yourself a Haynes Manual, at least they give you some direction when you need to change a part or do some work. You might be able to pick one...

    Seized Up Diff Lock

Well WD40 won't shift it, so I got this industrial strength lubricant called PX40, through work. I got underneath and gave the whole thing a damn good spray, got a good covering myself. Then I went and removed the gear knob for the low range box and gaiter, I got my stanley knife and cut away...
