Great site but why the bad language.

My bug started life as a 1967 1500 and yes they were one of the most reliable street motors. For racing I built mainly 2.3 litre units using all aftermarket (expensive) parts, Scat crank and case, Autocraft heads, Carrillo rods etc, etc. The only VW part used was the front crankshaft pulley nut...

What memories - dirt & rust, swarf in the eyes etc. :D I did try to find my old car some time ago. Last I heard it was just a bodyshell in a lock-up somewhere in London. I scratch-built this in the 90's a bit quicker than the 'Bug' ;)

Great site but why the bad language.

Well thats to the point, though rather presumptuous. I can't, unfortunately, do anything about the fact that I am 'new' to this forum. That isn't the case, unless I'm doing something wrong, as many posts have a string of 'quotes' attached that originate from the 'Anything Goes' forum.

Great site but why the bad language.

Found and joined this site recently having acquired a Freelander for my wife and have found it to be most informative. What I am struggling with though is the foul and unnecessary language 'F' & 'C' etc, words to be found in lots of posts. The 'anything goes' forum is fine and the warnings are...

    Compost anyone.

I had reason to glance inside my spare wheel carrier this morning (changing the brakelight bulb) and couldn't believe what I found. The whole thing was full, as in to the top, of rotting leaf mold. For those not aware of this I suggest you have a look. Now clean and any water getting in goes...

    Not sure yet. Help please.

No contest really given that, in my humble opinion, the Fiat Multiplas may have been reliable but its still the ugliest vehicle ever to be built.

    freelander 1 wing mirror removal/repair

I've just done mine as it had some vertical movement due to being hit (I think) by someone. Remove, with care, the inner cover off the inside of the door. It comes off from the top first and is attached with a little orange plastic push-in clip that will break easily. Disconnect the two...

    Well, we've done it.

Thanks guys, the scotchbrite pads worked a treat. Tyres are Pirelli Scorpion STR's and I've had to order 2 as no-one near has any in stock. Will definitely get them put on the rear, I found that bit of advice in the handbook last night (there was nothing worth watching on the TV). Current...

    Well, we've done it.

I'm a new member on here and after scanning through virtually the whole site we have taken the plunge and bought a TD4. 2002 TD4 ESX Auto, English car but French registered (we live in France). Its got a good service history and a new factory gearbox was fitted in 2009. Only faults I could find...
