Bugsy

I'm a new member on here and after scanning through virtually the whole site we have taken the plunge and bought a TD4.
2002 TD4 ESX Auto, English car but French registered (we live in France). Its got a good service history and a new factory gearbox was fitted in 2009. Only faults I could find is one rear passenger window doesn't wind down (motors whirring but no movement) and the sun-roof doesn't work.
Needs a couple of tyres and boy are they expensive 225/55 R17 (185 euros a tyre here in france).
Just one question (for now:)).
Its got the plastic bull-bar and spots fitted and has a green moss-like growth on one of the spotlight pods. Any idea what will remove it as hot water and detergent doesn't.

Bugsy.

Probably yer window regulator goosed, remember to buy the same brand and style of tyre thats on the truck and the new tyres must always without fail be put on the rear.
As for your strange growth... no idea, maybe a weed or moss killer like jeyes fluid?

Try caravan cleaner - it's ace in that green stuff that grows on caravans or campers over the winter.

:welcome2: et bienvenue.

You don't say which brand of tyre for €185 but if I could get Continental or Michelin in UK for that price I'd be very happy.

The best product for cleaning the green algae and de-greasing the engine etc. is Lidl multi-purpose de-greaser - that's the one in the orange spray bottle - very cheap - and it's best - believe me I've tried them all.

My TD4 sits outside all the time and I used to be plagued with it - lots of things will clean it but only that one stops it coming back.

Use the same stuff for cleaning around the window rubber seals. :D

Thanks guys, the scotchbrite pads worked a treat.

Tyres are Pirelli Scorpion STR's and I've had to order 2 as no-one near has any in stock. Will definitely get them put on the rear, I found that bit of advice in the handbook last night (there was nothing worth watching on the TV).
Current rears have over 5 mil left so too good to change for a poor bloke like me :)
