"Stranded in France" of last week...similar tale....

Yes, the alternator is to the left (Edit: to the left as you look to the engine from the front) but not quite so down. At least its longitudinal axle is not lower than the tensioner. Edit: better said, the alternator is to the right side of the engine (or engine bay). Here is a picture, not...

Sure I'm sure, Jason. I'm not "stranded" in any way or form to my present location :) ... Thanks. Oops, the top leftmost pulley is from the alternator, so we can forget about it. My guess is that they want to replace the bearing from the fan pulley: Riggy, what do you mean by "it doesn't...

"Stranded in France" of last week...similar tale....

Right. Then there's the aux belt layout on your disco: My guess is that they are reffering to smallest of the pulleys in the picture (leftmost and topmost in the layout). I'm not too familiar with the Td5 engine (since I don't have/had one) as much as I would like to, but what I know is: -...

Well, good luck in finding a good 7 seater and be careful with the (very) cheap ones.

    ome suspension

This steering wheel adjustment issue is not one of those theoretical mambo-jumbo. If this time you simply rotate the steering wheel and do that a couple of more times, presumably in the same direction, (once because you replaced the track rod ends and another time after you hit a rock) you will...

    ome suspension

slob, there are some typo errors in your message. you forgot [ and ] before and after "what a load of crap" and also [/ and ] at the end. feel free to edit your message ... I already explained on this forum why adjusting the steering wheel by removing it is not the proper method to solve this...

    ome suspension

Every time you change a part involved in suspension or steering, regardless genuine or other, it must be followed by an alignment check. And this includes the wheels themselfs (tyres especially). Try to push back all ABS sensors and then check wires/connectors leading to them. If these not cure...

    Overheating Problem - Ongoing

harvey_s, what vehicle are you talking about? What make, kind, year (or at least plate reg), engine, transmission, mileage? What do you mean by "block skimmed ok"? All these parts you were mentioning were replaced in the attempt of curing the overheating problem or was it something else?

    TD5 Dickie Seats

I think the main issue here is that you will have to deal with the hassle of reregistration of the vehicle as a 7 seater. That is if you want to use that 3rd row of seats for people, not only dogs or cats :) I don't know much about french or british vehicle registration but I think it must be...

    Ooooooer!!!!

AFAIK only the Disco 1's have the chassis stamped/punched behind the nearside front wheel (geee... how I hate this nearside/offside driver-side/passanger-side way of saying a simple left/right, specially when it's not LHD/RHD dependent info). The Disco 2's have it punched behind the RIGHT...

    DiscoII Td5 "low range" problem

Some pictures of the same problem at this link: from Landroverclub Luxembourg (check the very end too). You got it right, the injector harness is responsible for the mess. It's the "engine harness" the one that has the plug that goes to the ECU, part# YSB108710, see attachment.

    disco2 v8 year 2000 abs

SWO500030 , you can find it genuine (OEM) or aftermarket. Some say that replacing the valves is like a bandaid on a wooden leg and the fix is to replace the modulator. But it worths to try.

    DiscoII Td5 "low range" problem

George, LR SA wants to charge you that much because the tech note says that not only the injector harness needs to be changed but also the engine harness. But there are good chances for you to be lucky and get away with a careful cleaning of the engine harness. The injector harness is part#...

    DiscoII Td5 "low range" problem

It looks to me that you need to replace the wiring loom. About £37 + postage for the loom, £3-5 for an electrical contact cleaner and about 1 hour of work or something close to £200 at the stealership or something in between through an independent.

    vacuum pump oil leak

Everybody been there ... :D According to LR the vacuum pump is not a serviceable item. But, there is a "fix" for it: 300tdi vac pump and there was another place (which seems no longer available) with a step by step guide. Here is what you could find there: RapidShare link
