Sounds like a short in the wiring. Perhaps water has got into the spot light bodies? How well sealed are they?

Personally I'd suggest whipping out the temperature sender and checking it's condition. If it looks crappy then replace it, if not put it back and start playing with the electrics.

Sorry, meant to post an update but have had an enforced absence from the landy for a week or so... Anyway yes, new breather (mine was the small bell rather than the pipes) and no weeping since. Best bang for you buck fix I've encountered yet. Thanks to all for the, as ever, fantastic advice :)

Change vehicle? As far as I'm aware series headlights have 2 settings, "Off" and "Are they actually on?".

Thanks all. While I was ordering my new heaters I noticed that a new breather is only £3 so I got one. I'll fit it tomorrow and try to recondition the old one.

Well, I've ended up with a 100Ah/780CC for just a touch under £90. Once I get my new heater plugs in I'll be able to give it a go :)

Apparently the stock battery for the 2.25 diesel is 70Ah, so since my current one is 95Ah that would suggest you can increase both values without too much problem. Does that sound right? In which case perhaps I ought to look to get something with enough oomph to awaken a dead elephant :D...

It's an ex-south african military 2a, with some interesting mods.

As far as I can see neither the LR manual or the Haynes one mention the breathers. They have the older, non-pipe parts shown in the break down and don't mention clearing the breathers.

I have the Haynes manual and it sucks! I want the LR Workshop one, but have been told it's far to close to Christmas for me to just go and buy it :S Oxides, can I repair/clear/fix the tubes or do I need to just get new ones?
