    Freelander 2 (LR2) Does my FL2 have a problem?

I think my problem may be similar to what is listed in this thread: https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/torque-converter-freelander-2.371062/ Seems like some Dr Tranny is worth a punt. Can I add this myself, and if so where does it go? Thanks

    Freelander 2 (LR2) Does my FL2 have a problem?

Thanks for the reply GrumpyGel, I only wish I could be more descriptive of what's happening, but it's difficult due to it's intermittent nature, and even when it happens it's only like a slight knock/judder. Thinking back over the last couple of months there have been 2 occassions when moving...

    Freelander 2 (LR2) Does my FL2 have a problem?

OK i'm sorry, this is the most stupid and non-discript forum question i have ever posted and I have held off posting it for a number of weeks, but as it's still happening. I keep questioning myself if my FL2 has a problem or not? I cant remember if it's always been like it, or started happening...

    FL2 electrical issue with tailgate

This just happened to me yesterday also. I think these are the instructions to replace. The part seems resonably cheap at approx £30. Common fault by the looks of it. https://www.landrovermonthly.co.uk/articles/how-to/repair-your-freelander-2-tailgate/

Freelander 2 (LR2) New tyres on front or rear?

Yes. The Sunny were already on there. They get terrible reviews, and I wouldn't touch then with a barge pole. Can't wait to get rid of them.

Freelander 2 (LR2) New tyres on front or rear?

Thanks for the advice. The car is reasonablly new to me, and when I got it the previous owner obviously hadnt bothered changing them in 4s as the front were already quite low with the rears being much newer. Being a bit of a skin flint (especially this time of year) I would rather not replace...

Freelander 2 (LR2) New tyres on front or rear?

I need 2 new front tyres for the FL2. The rears have approx 5mm left on them so are fine. Trying to read some threads on here, but most info seemed to be around the FL1. However I am quite confused. Does it make a difference which axle has the newest tyres? Should I just get the new tyres on...

Freelander 2 (LR2) No Boost / Limp mode?

Nodge. I didnt realise this. I replaced the electronic throttle body on mine 2 months ago due to the plastic gears stripping. I havent had any calibration done. The vehicle seems OK. Have I been lucky, or is the car likely not performing as it should and I should get it recalibarated? Thx

Freelander 2 (LR2) Just how bad is my rear diff?

Thanks to those who helped me out and gave me advice. To close the thread, I visited Bell Engineering today, who were excellent and very accommodating. Austen first took the car for a drive to get a feel for how everything was, and reported that in his opinion the car was driving fine and...

Freelander 2 (LR2) Removing the Swirl Flaps - What's best?

It's a good question which I was tempted to ask, because on a BMW 5 series diesel I had a few years ago, when the swirl flaps were removed you had to fit blanking plates in their place.

Freelander 2 (LR2) Removing the Swirl Flaps - What's best?

Cleverer people than me will answer, but I think the problem is it could happen at almost any age and mileage (given how long the FL2 has been out now, I think any vehicle has the potential for failure). I dont think you can tell until the Manifold is off, and by the time you've done that, you...

Freelander 2 (LR2) Removing the Swirl Flaps - What's best?

Thanks Guys. I will print off those instructions and give them to the neighbour. Is this the repalcement seals I should get https://www.lrparts.net/lr005364-inlet-manifold-gasket-set-for-freelander-2-2-2-diesel-td4-also-fits-discovery-sport-and-range-rover-evoque.html Is that all he will...

Freelander 2 (LR2) Removing the Swirl Flaps - What's best?

I'm going to get my mechanic neighbour to remove the swirl flaps from my 2009 130k FL2. Going to follow the instructions Arctic2 put on Nodge's recent FL2 resurection thread, which basically just looks like snapping the plastic flaps off the flap rod. Is that all there is to it? Neighbour was...

Freelander 2 (LR2) Just how bad is my rear diff?

21 pages!!!! Thanks (I think). Give me something to do whilst the lockdown continues I suppose?

Freelander 2 (LR2) Just how bad is my rear diff?

Thanks Nodge. Pulled the fuse this morning and did receive an error message on the LCD and then the traction control lights flashes constantly whilst driving. Other than that it seems fine. I took it for a good drive and there was no sign of oil leaking from that same hole after, so presume...

Freelander 2 (LR2) Just how bad is my rear diff?

Sent Austen at Bell the picture of my haldex/diff pre-cleaning. His reply was "blimey, that is bad!!!". Subsequently he has suggested I disable the Haldex pump in the interim until the FL2 is at Bell. From some Googling I see there are 2 possible ways to do this - either pulling the fuse (FB6?)...

Freelander 2 (LR2) Just how bad is my rear diff?

GrumpyGel Thx. I have spoken with Austin at Bell. He thinks it will need a Haldex service and new Piston seal. Quoted £150 + VAT + seal, which is half the price of everywhere else. Unfortunately he cant do it until 29th October. He has however assured me it will be fine to drive in that time...

Freelander 2 (LR2) Just how bad is my rear diff?

Visited transmission specialist this morning and showed him the pictures. He said that this will be caused by the rear diff breather pipe being blocked, and subsequently blowing a seal between rear diff and haldex (i think thats what he meant anyway). Quoted £275 + VAT to service Halldex and...

Freelander 2 (LR2) Just how bad is my rear diff?

Haldex is due to be serviced in approx 3 weeks, but i'm worried now that I need to either not drive the vehicle until then, or get it serviced somewhere else quicker. I am worried I could run it dry and make things worse. Can that happen?

Freelander 2 (LR2) Just how bad is my rear diff?

He's just big boned!!! Actually he's probably more like 38. But he is a big boy, and certainly not easy to get in to the back of the car. For the larger males, I think that's fairly average from what i've seen?
