Your username says it all to me! 700 miles a week on the motorways in a bottom end defender may look good on paper but is not something i'd even contemplate.
I'd put money on that relationship lasting less than a month!
Poor earth is a very common problem & easy to check. Provide a good earth to chassis and check for improvement.
Other problems could be having 5 speakers wired into a 4 output unit (screwing with the resistance loadings)
And in all honesty, a bottom of the range unbranded unit isn't going to...
The indicator circuit in the alarm is fused. But it is just one fuse for the both sides. So if one side is still working it isn't that.
The alarm flashes the lights by pulsing the car's standard circuit wires. You could try to trace the wires to look for breaks. Indicator wires out of the alarm...
I put original '85 calipers on a disco axle. Mounting bolts were different diameters so made up some bushes to press into the calipers to prevent movement on the axle.
Nice enough seats those, i have a set in the loft awaiting a retrim as the 80s fabric doesn't suit...anything.
But with a pair of decent mgf seats costing less than the materials to retrim just one recaro it seems a little too costly for a defender.
Wow ... Stunning photos.
Must be photoshopped!.. The camel and Landy have both left footprints but not the cameraman...
I reckon you're still in the uk... ;)
I found the aftermarket one a bit iffy to say the least.
Got it on in the end but that was after a lot of thumb breaking work getting the various channels to unstick and open sufficiently.
Thanks for the update and pics... Looks great.
If you're feeling generous, would you also share what it cost both mechanically and then paint? Would be very interesting & useful to know. Cheers,
Nasty. I'd suggest getting someone who knows what theyre looking at to give it a once over.
One nasty looking bit usually means alot of other nasty bits hidden elsewhere.
That is alot of paint daubed over... And is that some splattery welding holding on a replacement rear outrigger?
Yeah - it is close.
I've put heat wrap on mine but even so there is still probably 15mm clearance. Personally I wouldn't have a downpipe stuffed up against soundproofing - wrapped or not.
Bolts do make things easier but I seem to remember that shortened studs are the preferred method.
It probably ought to be mentioned that all those repair panels are just the outer skin.
If there is notable decay internally it'll need a lot more cutting & fabrication or it'd just be another cosmetic job only marginally better than daubing it in filler.
Foot wells are double skinned...
Thousands of people use bitumen flashing tape to reduce vibrations and add mass to panels. The stuff works ok for the outlay but spending a bit more on purpose made stuff is generally considered better value for money.
Thick closed cell foam on top is the next thing to do if you want to reduce...
