    Breakedown cover

My dad sorted cover with the AA, which is for my mum, dad, brother and I in what ever cars we are in. That was £127 a year for all of us, which isn't that bad I don't think. Even though if something breaks we usually recover and fix our own cars anyway. But when we go further afield it will...

    Series 3 88 parabolic probs!!

When we fitted the new springs on our series 3 (heavy duty not parabolics though) ours sat too low to start with. The shackles had been set up wrong and needed adjusting. Yours are facing very far back so maybe jacking it up and resetting them could solve it instead of being a fault with the...

    Should I buy a Disco 1?

Discoverys are perfectly capable, and you can get thousands of things to modify it for off-road. If you are after something easy to drive too then again it will suit nicely. I went for a later modeal with a 300tdi. I did wait a little longer to get an ES model so it has all the gadgets and i was...

What have you done to your Landie today.

fixed (read bodged) a few niggling problems with the disco today. The pin for the rear door stay has rusted away alot, which given there is little rust anywhere else is annoying, but there was nothing keeping the door stay on the pin. 30 seconds later and with the aid of a lump hammer, there is...

Defenders any good for a first car?

My brother is insured for a series 3 as his first car, and with my dad on it they wanted 1900, adding me took it down to 1500 (im only 20 as well, bit of a surprise that!) but I would assume a 90 would be a lot more still, as it is more powerful, expensive etc. I don't understand insurance at...

    Re-paint

Ours was brush painted with 2 tins of bronze green from our local agriculteral supplies place, it looks pretty good although there are still brush strokes around too. Our series three was in pieces though so easier to prep and clean and paint the panels.

The low loaders were 2a's made by Ibbett Engineering. It was sold as the Eezion Camel. The AA bought a few of them in 1971. Land Rover Special projects made one before in 1965 to carry a gas turbine racing car. No im not that clever or knowledgeable, its in the may issue of LRO. Page 15...

Smallist garage required to fit Series 2

when getting a series landrover... no shed is big enough! However a single garage type size would do but if you want to do any work on the car you would have to drive it out and work on it outside, so you can actually get to the tools! Really a double shed (double car size... i dont know about...

    Rural (off)road... great lane

Thanks, spent a while reading them, and then looking through some local maps, there still isnt much around my house so I think I'll be venturing further and finding some local clubs to join in with. I think that'll be the best way to start.

    Trouble with ebay seller

Its probably more hassle than its worth dealing with him any further. There are plenty more series 3s about but it just means a bit more searching. Hopefully the next one owned by a more cooperative person.

    Snowdonia/North Wales

My family and I are currently planning another holiday to Snowdonia. We've been there plenty of times before but I've never been able to drive there myself. Now I have my disco I would like to explore the area a bit more too. I have looked through the maps we've accumulated but wouldn't want to...

    Rural (off)road... great lane

That does look fun, I'd keep the location for selected people before it looks more like a pond than a nice forgotten lane. Just a question for map reading, and its something I'm searching for, but how are unclassified roads shown on OS maps? do they all have the byway marking to show you can...

All the gear no idea. need to tell someone.

I wondered where all them cats came from last time i drove past! Discos seem to tow things quite a lot from my experience. When my brother rolled the series three a disco was the first to stop and pull us back over too, and another towed us home (shame it didnt have a which on the trailer, our...
