Loving this rebuild thred, I was given a price of £380+ the dreded for having my chassis galvanised by wedge in Liverpool.

Yep both outriggers, rear crossmember and a little patch needed. I was going to repair it then have it galvanised but I don't think it's going to be a lot cheaper so it's goting to be a new galvanised one. Still saving though so I've got bits of defender everywhere. I'm putting d1 300 axles on...

I don't think I'll be needing these, it's all that's left after strip down. Axles might do someone a turn though.

Yeah that looks like a hole in the chassis rail but it's not, it's black foam stuck to it. I'm on the drive at the moment but I'm looking for a unit/ garage but they are bloody expensive round here.

There was a lot of oil in the intercooler when I took it off. How do you check for crankcase pressure?

Yes engine rebuild is on the very long list, it crazy but the engine always starts first time and pulls really well,

Just striping my 90 down for a full rebuild but when I've taken the turbo pipe off I found this What should I do?

I'm going to stip her right down to see what the chassis is like, I know the out riggers and rear cross member is shot but not sure about the rest. I hope to repair then galvanise but if it's too bad then a new chassis is called for, it's been on a Welsh sheep farm for the last 25 years so who...

Hi graham and welcome I too was I biker but at 52 I decided it was time for a change, I've had a few lands but I'm on my first defender, mines a 200 tdi so I could not advice on the other engines but I had a TD5 disco and I thought the engine was great.

Now £150 that's less than £40 a tyre:eek:
