    Knocking

check the 13mm nuts on the antiroll bar clamps, they are common for coming loose. On the V8 you'll need to move the heat shields out of the way to get to the front nuts. Had a diesel 322 come in the other day for the same problem, tightened the nuts and hey presto. Fixed!

    L322 Diff recall procedure.

you need to wash it off with brake cleaner and have a good look. All the seals should have been replaced when the diff was modified. I've never had one leak and its not a common thing anyway so whoever did it has made a balls up somewhere. Either a seal isn't fitted properly or they have damaged...

    L322 Diff recall procedure.

we use land rover genuine black gasket sealer. Wheres it leaking from? is it from between the case halves? it's unlikely that it is and the only way it could leak from there is if the casing was damaged by prybars when they stripped it.

    L322 Diff recall procedure.

The diff comes out, stripped down, a new pinion bearing, collapsible spacer, seals etc. and a new modified drive flange. Then the pinion preload is set. The diff gets resealed and assembled and fitted back into the car. Once in, a new modified propshaft is fitted. Lost count the amount of...

    48k TD4 Service: Dealer v Specialist

We don't get bonuses for "add ons". Selling hours goes towards our bonus but in all honesty, the targets are so high they're impossible to hit. I wont replace or report anything a car doesn't need. Service times are generous and I can easily complete a service within the time and REPLACE...

    centrifugal oil filter

I wouldn't worry about it but if you are then whip the cover off and make sure it spins freely, never known them to seize though. Some are noisier than others but it's really nothing to worry about.

    compression rate

I take it you mean the compression ratio? Look where the dipstick tube goes into the engine. You'll see the engine number, near that will be the compression ratio. Should be summat like 9.25:1 As for compression pressures if you're doing a compression test then summat like 130 psi on all...

    Air suspension inactive L322

When the battery is disconnected on an L322 you need to calibrate the steering angle sensor when reconnected. Just turn lock to lock a couple of times and the warning and DSC light will go off.

    manifold for V8

No such thing! Rover V8 manifolds are very expensive because people are after them for V8 conversions for hot rods, kit cars, you name it.

more than likely the injector harness is full of oil. They're about £45 from a dealer. You need to check and see if oil has made its way to the ECU Take off the battery cover and remove the ECU, pull off the red plug from ther ECU and look for oil in the plug. If theres any there then...

    Shoes to Pads

Nothing is impossible but I dont know of anyone who does a conversion kit for this. To undertake this is a major task of measuring and fabrication. No freelander ever had the mounts for calipers on the rear except the freelander 2 which is a totally different vehicle. If it aint...

    Freelander starting problem

sounds to me like the starter motor, not uncommon. Theres no need to replace it though. Take it out and remove the plate from the solenoid, inside there is a copper disc, take this out and clean it and also clean the contacts inside, refit the disc but turn it slightly so an unburnt part of the...

    Freelander Head Gasket Replacement!!!!

The easiest way to do the heads on the KV6 engine is to drop the engine and 'box assembly out of the bottom of the car and do the heads with the engine on the floor. There are special tools needed for the valve timing and without them, you can't do it. Check the block for flatness as well as...

    SWR Reading

Try a different mounting position for the antenna and make sure the base is properly grounded to the body. Putting an earth wire to the battery or any other part of the car wont work. The main problem with defenders is that all the body panels bolt together and some may not be as well...
