I have just noticed tonight that my centrifugal oil filter doesnt spin down. should i be worried?!

How do you know its not spining when its in a canister. (top right hand side of engine as you look at it)

It was loud enough to hear when getting out of the disco after turning the engine off. now theres no noise at all!

Are you sure, i dont think you should be hearing anythink, its not worn turbo bearings runing down is it

thought i was told ages ago that if you cant hear the filter wind down it means trouble. all old filters have made a noise

I wouldn't worry about it but if you are then whip the cover off and make sure it spins freely, never known them to seize though.

Some are noisier than others but it's really nothing to worry about.
