Try looking at gaydon heritage museum, they have records of every landrover made. You supply the chassis number and some other details and for £5 they will do a search..... I used this service for my lightweight and the paperwork I paid for then allowed me to get a proper age related plate...

whats actually wrong with the old lump? Personally speaking, I would look at sourcing a replacement v8, I've thought about changing my v8, but don.t have the heart to do it. I like it too much, and if that went bang, I would get another v8 lump straight away

evening All, finally got round to firing up the old beast (being in storage for about 4 months), fired up only after a few cranks once the fuel had drawn through, under no load, seemed to run ok but on a run it ran like a bag o ****e. put some fresh fuel in it, but still backfired under...

Got 86 out of it using a GPS speedo, I could see the fuel gauge dropping alarmingly quickly..... (Lwt V8 auto).... Don't know what scared me most... The cost of the fuel or the bonnet straining against the bonnet straps thinking..."if they snap I'm f**ked"

First check that there is no fuse or a broken common earth / power that feeds all the gauges..

Is there a pick up near the coil on these? (Can't remember).... What year is it?

Best using a relay for any extra lamps, a simple switching relay isn't that hard to wire in so it makes sense to fit one

Have you confirmed you have a spark at the plugs and its not arking still

You may be better off with a lightweight.... If you look in eBay at landrover spares, there's a massive yard full of lightweights in Cyprus :D

Is your tank under the seat...? Check all seals are in good condition and ensure there isn't the slightest bit of corrosion. It's ok to reroute the breathers but planning is needed on where you route them to ....

Water pump bearing? Alternator bearing? Can you narrow down where underneath its coming from? Engine, gearbox???
