Hi, just planning to fit some extra lights. Driving lamps when I get the bar and some lamps on the front and back of the roof rack. How are yours wired in? I am putting the driving lamps on the main beam circuit, do I need to uprate the fuse? I will put the roof externals on a new switch but would like some advice on the right fuse to wire them in plus any other advice you have. Cheers

Best using a relay for any extra lamps, a simple switching relay isn't that hard to wire in so it makes sense to fit one

I am really happy to be able to post this, I usually just read this section, but I actually know the answer to this :D I recently fitted spotlights to mine (well I was supposed to ) and had to learn the diagram.

You need two relays, each one has two lamps on it. You dont wire them into the existing lights they have their own wire from the battery to the relay. You then have to put switches in the dash so they dont always come on with full beam as that is illegal. Then a wire goes from the relay to the full beam wire which tells the relay to switch them on. Then obviously wires to the actual lights. We put the relays in the box where the battery goes and I have a feeling the fuses went in there too. Afraid I cant remember what the fuses were.

Nrgserv will be proud of me now :D

Sticking an extra 20+ Amps onto the Mainbeam lighting circuit is never going to end well. Do what Suew Says. live feed direct from battery to a relay 2 lamps per relay. relays switched from mainbeam via dash mounted swtiches..

Don't connect extra lights directly into the headlight circuit, you could cause yourself grief at MOT time, even if the existing wiring will carry the current. Always wire them through a switch.

:D OMG I got it right :D :D

Thats made my day

:D

today headlamps, tomorrow a timing belt.. :p

Do you still need your engine welding in :p

Actually this week is the radio, spent an hours studying the wires today and I can do it :confused:

Then its fitting the power steering belt I bought 2 weeks ago

And in case you think I dont know what a timing belt is, I do, it had a new one 6 months ago. First thing I had done when I bought it as I couldn't find it on its service records.
