Someone had a video on here of a disco with similar problem I think, it was something to do with a plastic linkage that popped out. The video showed everything as he cut an access panel in his transmission tunnel :( No doubt someone will help with the search as it was quite a good video...

Could be the gaskets that have gone hard and warped slightly it's not a big job to replace them, i would change them for piece of mind

Can't you get underneath with a rubber mallet and tap gently to see if it is the cats? If you do the cats, after all the work needed, maybe advisable to fit a stainless system so you don't have to do it again

Sounds like air locks in the system. Your issue could be.... How did the air get there .....? (head gasket)

If it's a diesel it should be ok, as long as it didn't go beyond the red line.... Would have thought a mechanic would have tried to clear the oil out of the turbo and pipework before installing new seals though...

Muddy !!! There's half a lawns worth on the inside as well,,, a few gallons of muddy water under the hood... Note to self: when water comes over the bonnet and it drops down to 6 cylinders, don't try dry out the ht leads whilst engine is running otherwise little shocks can be felt whilst stood...
