hi all , finally getting the fault list shorter and shorter, today been looking for the source of the oil leak, managed to trace it roughly to rear of right hand rocker just around the auto dipstick and the cables area cant actually see it but i`m certain it from this area, when checking i noticed all the bolts holding the rocker covers in place where very loose so i tightened these up surely this wont be the cause? it dosn`t leak when parked only when engine running and up to temp and its clean engine oil, anyone no of typical problem areas in this location, and if you think a loose rocker cover has caused this let me no as i need some good news
cheers

Could be the gaskets that have gone hard and warped slightly

it's not a big job to replace them, i would change them for piece of mind

Why cant it just be as simple as loose rocker cover !!!
Replacing rocker cover gaskets is easy unless you have the later "bunch of bananas" type plenum chamber which has to come off for access to rocker cover bolts.

Mine's got a leak in exactly the same area - it's what caused my gearbox problems by soaking a wiring connector at the back of the engine.

It looks far too much hassle to replace the gaskets at the moment, so it'll have to wait until something else breaks in that area.

well ive re tightened all the rocker screws, yeah all wires well soaked in oil im gonna clean and tidy them all, need get alternator and abs accum then if nothing else goes it should be mot ready
