Here is the symptoms. I have an erratic misfire on all over the range of cylinders. On start up from cold the revs shoot up to 2500 then try to die down to 1500 and up and down between the 2 for a a short time. Dies down to 1000 and stays between 1000 1500 whilst driving . settles down to 750...

Just another thought. Is the cam sensor magnetic, as the swarf from the knackered tappet would cause a break down in signal. It revs fine just the tickover Ive just read another thread about cleaning swarf off the sensor any input on this

These are these symptoms. 4.0 thor On start up the car revs to 2000-2500. If I then put into gear quickly drops to 1500. Erratic tick over and fault code for misfire now and again. o2 oxygen sensor output volts: bank 1 0.455 v with no change when reving bank 2 0.000 with no revs and changes...

Well all the other tappets are ok. Maybe cam or tappet Its only on that one. Not lube problem as new oil pump and sprockets and chain. If it starts again I will strip it and start again. I have a o2 sensor problem now so started a new thread.

New cam and tappets 6 months ago. The cam lobe wasn't that bad but had taken the peak off it. As its not a vital vehicle I can wait and see if the next tappet comes out the same. Another new cam if that's the case. Can a snap on diagnostic tool do the same on the fuel reset
