What have you done to your Freelander today

Changed the power steering fluid reservoir. From what I've read, not a bad idea on a 10 year old FL2. Will gradually replace the fluid over the coming weeks...

Freelander2 strange noise from pully area

Or at 10 years old. Which ever is reached first. My specialist says 120k miles. Had mine done at @115k, but it was nearly at the 10 year mark.

    Help needed

The temp guage reading lower than normal could point to a failed thermostat. If the engine isn't reaching optimum running temperature that won't help and it could knacker your DPF if one is fitted. Chances are yours doesn't as its a 2008.

What have you done to your Freelander today

Changed the thermostat on my FL2 earlier. Was unable to drain the coolant from the drain on the rad, so got a bit messy. Not to bad a task to do, although a small amount of awkward and fiddly thrown in for good measure. Still easier than the same job on an M47 TD4...

    Freelander 2 (LR2) Wannabe owner

I'd go for the HSE, but ultimately I'd base the final decision on service history and condition. If you know the registrations do an MOT history check at the very least. I think the SD4's are a bit lower on the road tax as the emissions are less. Torque figure is the same despite the SD4's extra...

Freelander 2 (LR2) Have you got rust on your FL2

They came with trim on originally to cover the edge which itself gets grotty and traps dirt and moisture on a sharp metal edge where the paint will be thinner and will ultimately flake off. My 2009 hasn't got the trims on any more and the rust is only slight on the surface so I'm going to sort...

What have you done to your Freelander today

New tyres and a wheel alignment done. Money well spent as some adjustment needed. Managed to find another small independent tyre place as the one I'd used previously has been taken over by a chain and despite numerous phone calls failed on the day!

Freelander 2 (LR2) Freelander 2 MY2011 Help or Thoughts on work to get done?

The indie I use has just done my cambelt, water pump (so a coolant change too) and auxiliary belt as mine is ten years old. It had done 114k, but he said they should be done at 120k. Definately not left until 150k. He replaced the gearbox oil (auto) along with the diff oil and haldex fluid...

Had the tailgate in bits looking into why fuse f6 blew a couple times. Turns out the fuel filler flap solenoid has stopped playing...

    Tailgate on a Freelander 2 2008 won’t open.

Just had the same issue myself. Fuse kept blowing, so I've just had the tailgate in bits. No sign of water getting in which I thought was the cause after all the rain we had Friday and Saturday. I used some self adhesive neoprene tape to replace the knackered seal on the tailgate handle. Turns...

What have you done to your Freelander today

Not today, but last week I had the cambelt, waterpump and transmission fluids changed on my 09 FL2 TD4 auto. The only fluid not changed was the front box as he couldn't get his vac pump probe down into the oil. No drain plugs on some bits which is surprising. I don't believe in sealed for life!

    Freelander 1 Injector issues

When I had an injector failing the idle was fairly lumpy and with the engine running just unplugged the electrical connector to each injector in turn to identify the one which was unwell as the idle settled down. Lots of posts on here about injector replacement...

    Replacing AC condenser

More datailed than my response and therefore of more use, but I do remember to get to the bolt at the end I did take out the bolts along the top of the wing to get to the bolt at the end of the bumper as the caged nut was knackered on one side. I carefully bent the wing back as its plastic to...

    Freelander2 rear suspension advice

It is available separately, the part number appears to be LR041112 which superceded LR007800. You'll probably need the bolt too which is stated as BOLT HEXAGONAL HEAD, M6 X 14MM. A few part numbers pop up for this one, so I'm not 100 certain which is the correct one I'm afraid.
