Message appears saying Tailgate open. But it is shut tight. Doors won’t lock. When I try to open it make a loud buzz. I have tried numerous other methods such as pressing and holding for 4 secs the unlock button and Both the lock and unlock buttons together. Pushing the tailgate from the inside and pressing the fob at the same time.

I have now partly remove the interior panel. It won’t com off completely as it seems to be stuck in the middle under the lock.
I have removed there screws at the bottom, that I assume go into the lock, but it still does not open.
I have checked all the other holes on the tailgate inside of the outer cover and there are no other screws o bolts left to remove.
I have read all the posts I can find on this site and tried all the methods suggested, with no luck.
The only videos seem to be for different models

Would be pleased to receive any assistance you can suggest.

Try pushing the tailgate from outside, and then pressing the fob, it could have something jammed in mechanism

Hey

A bit late but I just had the same problem. Had a shed load of shopping in a tight supermarket parking space but the boot wouldn't open. Had to squeeze it through the windows onto passenger seat! Driving home the display is telling me tailgate open. Tried to push it shut but nothing happening. Couldn't lock it as the alarm was sounding to tell me that something was open. Tried pushing both lock and unlock as advised still nothing so broke my back trying to get the fuse out with my best eyebrow tweezers. It looked okay so I'm put it back in as it was. Pressed unlock again and there was a healthy clunking noise from the back - eureka it opened.before I closed it back up I sprayed the latch with loads of wd40. It now locks and unlocks

I had exactly the same problem and couldn't lock the car , horn sounding , mislock . Changed the F6 10amp Fuse under the glove box All sorted , thanks to your post , cheers !

Just had the same issue myself. Fuse kept blowing, so I've just had the tailgate in bits. No sign of water getting in which I thought was the cause after all the rain we had Friday and Saturday.
I used some self adhesive neoprene tape to replace the knackered seal on the tailgate handle.
Turns out the fuel flap solenoid decided to stop playing, so that'll be next weekends job...

Let me know how you get on with the fuel flap solenoid please, mine has packed up too, at the time I couldn't be bothered (raining) and just put a locking fuel cap on tbh

Most likely going to get it sorted during its next service, but for now a locking filler cap is on its way...
