I had it happen to me with a defender 200tdi but mine hadn't been helicoiled so that is what I did. My reading of your post is that it has already been helicoiled so the only option I can see is to try and replace the existing helicoil by carefully re tapping it very slowly with lots of grease...

yeah, thanks for that. Personally I love it with the V8 and reckon it gets equivalent of about 28mpg on gas so I'm happy. Just need someone to confirm to the boss that dieselization aint the way to go:D

I very much doubt that will be tight enough you need to buy\beg\borrow\steal the right size socket as it needs to be TIGHT.Cant remember torque setting off hand but i usually do them up with a windy gun then nip them up with torque wrench

have just acquired a rather tasty 3.9 ES auto with gas conversion which i think is just perfect. However the boss thinks we should dieselize it so on that basis I've got a of 300tdis (manual gearboxes) laid about so is it possible to put one of these engines on to the autobox or is it just not...

R u a member of GLASS? They have loads of info on lanes and where they are as well as how to research them. They also provide a great voice for protecting our lanes and BOATs etc. £30 well spent I would say:D :eek: Doug
