Oh I've read it.... I can see both sides of the argument but I haven't seen conclusive evidence either way, as to whether you need a MAF if you have deleted the EGR, or not...

Ahh... so in a non-turbo diesel, the air is constant, so fuelling is decided by the 'right foot'. However in a turbo diesel, the air flow is variable so there needs to be a way to measure it to adjust fuelling accordingly - i.e. a MAF sensor?....

Ask @wammers .... he'll tell you, diesel engines don't need a MAF sensor unless they have an EGR....

Apparently, if you have deleted the EGR, you don't need a MAF..... So just unplug it. It's pointless anyway...

Changed both front window regulators today, as they both gave out within 5 days of each other.... Not ideal having front windows that don't open in this weather.... Not bad though, easy job and £33 the pair.

Same happened to me and I capped mine with 10mm stop ends. My system is still fully pressurised. Keep an eye on the fittings as there is a fine line between getting them tight enough to hold and stripping the threads. You would probably have found them quite loose fitting after cleaning up the...

If it's completely flushed out with clean water, then yes.

I used it. My disco failed on emissions, the limit was 3 (of whatever they measure) and mine was 7.8, so an epic fail by any standard. A bottle of cataclean and about 20 miles of thrashing, it measured 0.14.... !!

Yeah, I had a look and you can pick them up for £15 to £20. Not worth the hassle of fixing.

After nursing a clunky drivers window for a couple of weeks, (more urgent jobs have taken priority) it's finally given up and the cog has fallen off. I noticed it's held on with 3 spot welds. Would it be possible to drill where the spot welds are, and use 3 pan-head self tappers to screw them...

Have you changed the fuel filter recently?

Well it can only be fuel or air related, have you replaced the MAF at all? Try running with it unplugged. If it improves, that's the problem. Other than that, maybe fuel pressure regulator? It could be fuel filter though, if it's clogged, it will choke fuel supply at higher revs, very cheap and...

Mine was doing similar, drove fine around town up to around 30mph but started juddering at anything above it and struggled to go any faster. Turned out to be fuel pump. Turn ignition to position 2 and listen for it priming. Mine was dead.

It's obviously a feeble attempt to make it look like a Merc G-wagon. But why????

I got a Bearmach one, my local landy man said he sells loads and has never had any complaints or problems with them. He said they might be slightly noisier, though mine is definitely quieter than the old one. (Not that you would hear it over a Td5 engine anyway). I paid £93 inc.vat Edit- he did...

I would doubt the seals are replaceable but you might be able to get it to seal with some PTFE tape around the end of the fuel pipe. Out of interest, how much did you pay for the used pump?

Just looking at my old pump I took out yesterday, it looks as if the fuel lines are held in place by a type of pressure seal, similar to a push fit plumbing coupling. Since its a 2nd hand unit, it's possible the seals are perished or damaged.

Well... New pump fitted, (£90 lighter now though :() Goes like a new car now! :)

At least I've found THE problem though...:)
