    Definitely get a Mig - Gas over gasless every time, the weld is much cleaner (gasless is nice in the wind, but not tidy!!) 150amp is great for a learner, any bigger and people tend to get frustrated and turn them up, increasing their problems (and frustration) - anything less that 130amp wont...

    Upto late '96/early '97 - (I seem to remember they went to the electronic pump around P or R reg) - mines a P ('96) with mechanical pump. James Martin (amongst many others on 'ere) would know for sure!

    AWP - rare as hell!!! I'll sort out the "how I made mine..." when I get back after my next work trip... Vizsla - Std Height/HD springs and shocks have transformed the motor tbh. Rides beautifully, stands about 1.5" higher (old ones were very tired...). much more stable on the road, corners...

    300TDi Disco 1 (pre-electronic pump) would be my recommendation - easy to work on (easier if you can weld too - or know someone who can...!) Plenty out there in your budget with change to spare for repairs/mods too - have a look at a few, check the posts on here for usual trouble spots and...

    +1 on the Numax CXV-X 1000 Amp - Leisure Batteries - Numax Leisure Batteries got them on the Disco and Series use the Disco lots for jump starting, never let me down yet!
