I just read that the release bearing on the TD4 is an integral part of the slave cylinder and that was changed when the clutch was fitted 4 - 5 weeks ago.

Oh great. How much work is required to put right?? How can I know for sure that it is the said bearing? Is it something a diyer could do? Thanks for the replies by the way.

It had a new clutch fitted about 4 - 5 weeks ago along with a new slave cylinder. Is the release bearing separate? and would that noise fade as the engine warms up?

Can anybody help me with this damn noise please? I have a freelander td4 2000 x reg. only got 81k on the clock. Every time I start the engine from cold and begin to drive I can hear an annoying clicky screechy noise. The pitch is higher for a split second as I dip the clutch to change gear...

Can the suspension be adjusted on a 2000 freelander please? When I look at mine from the front it appears to be lower on the drivers side. If this is possible how is it done please. Thankyou Paul.

I visited my local LR dealer this morning and the diagnosed noise problem is my rear tyres.

I visited a tyre fitter and got the tracking sorted. It was out and is now how it should be and the steering wheel is also central. Thanks for the replies :)

How can I make my steering stay central? It is slightly off set to the left and is annoying me. Is it hard to fix and what does it entale? Can I just remove the wheel and put it back on and bolt it back on? thanks

I have removed the propshafts and VCU and the noise is still there. I have also swapped the wheels around too. I am thinking its the final drive making the noise? Is it supposed to make a noise though? it might be me being used to my old megane and now moving onto a freelander I am noticing...

maybe I should change the bearings anyway? What do you think?
