My Disco 1 Work in Progress.

I would have thought the Southdown was more durable as most of it is inside the wing - the safari snorkels look like they could be easily punctured by a branch or rock when offroading as they sit outside of the wing for most of the run. I'm sure you could get a new connectiung pipe for a few...

It is his? Seems like a waste of money to me - replacing one working part with another?

Why are you swapping the snorkel?

Mine doesn't have OBD as it's too early.

    Very early 300v8 ABS issue.

Thankyou. I've now found a blue 4 pin connector. 2 of the wires have been cut from the back of the plug. I now can't find out where they go :s I still have a black/pink wire and a white wire. I presume I can just earth the black pink wire? I don't suppose you know why a relay has to be removed...

    Very early 300v8 ABS issue.

I've had another hunt around under the dash and I can't find an OBD connector or the 5 pin connector I've heard about. All I can find is a 20 pin blue connector approximately the same size as an OBD connector but I can't find any information on it. :(

The girl in the disco wasn't too bad! Not that I'd ever attempt such a thing in mine...

    Very early 300v8 ABS issue.

I've done searches but not been able to find a definate answer to my problem. My ABS has a nasty habit of cutting in when the wheels aren't locking or in danger of locking. i.e. you press the brake pedal lightly to slow the vehicle and the ABS cuts in, you get vibration through the pedal...

    Diff Oil Change

I had a rear diff out in less time than it took to boil the kettle. I mean that literally. I do run a garage and have airtools and a ramp but it really is easy to change a rear diff. If you've got steel wheels you don't even need to jack it up. Used diffs can be picked up for £50 or less.

Maybe it's the humping wood that's making you grumpy? Try humping a girl instead...

    Another windscreen thread...

    Bugger. So I can't fit a TD5 heated screen, I need a 300 series heated screen then?

    Another windscreen thread...

I realise this question may have been asked before, but does anyone know if a Discovery 2 windscreen will fit in an early 300 disco? I know there are quite a few differences with the very first 300 series discos - seat subframes etc but are they the same windscreen as the later 300? Mine is a...

What have you done to your Landie today.

Good for you Nigel! now go over to the introduce yourself section and introduce yourself ( coz we're all nosey buggers) then more importantly go to the discovery section and put up pics of your disco :D

Is my 3.0 litre engine "representative of the marque"?

Here's an off the wall thought - smoking after being left standing for a period of time is usually valve stem seals.... oil leaks past the seals down the valves and into the ports behind the valve heads, it is then burned off over a period of a few minutes...

    Disco td5 clocks into 300tdi

Now if it were me I'd see it as a challenge and try to fit them anyway. Hijacking the thread a bit my D1 has ABS but it picks the speedo signal up from the drive in the tbox. it should be relatively easy to find out if you can use that pickup - just scope the signal at say 10mph and see if the...

What have you done to your Landie today.

I got my LPG system up and running. I had a singlepoint vapouriser type system on my old 3.9 but wanted something a little more sophisticated on my 4.6 (and also something that didn't backfire and blow the airbox up) I've gotta say I'm impressed. It took a bit of fitting and the instructions...

    quandry...

You've asked the question on a Landrover forum, there's only going to be one answer... We're bound to be a bit biased.... Having said that, the x5 isn't really an offroader, its a 5 series estate with more traction and a status symbol. I'd rather have a regular 5 series over an x5 ( i do)...

hid upgrade on discovery 1 results........

You're missing the point that Sam is trying to make - HiD lights in a halogen reflector aren't focused properly - they appear brighter as they ARE, close up. They don't throw the beam correctly though so your vision further down the road is actually impaired, doubly so as the bright light closer...
