    Not saying I dont want jates. Am saying I do not have the holes for jates as rear crossmember and short legs have been replaced and looks like recovery point holes have been welded up. Is cross member strong enough to take a towball just for recovery

    Hi all. What in your opinion is the best item to fit for rear recovery. I have no rear towing eyes to change for jate rings as they have been welded up when fitting new rear cross member. I dont have or want a towing bracket. All advice gratefully recieved

    Tried the stop tail led bulbs in mine. Found the neck on the lamp was not long enough to reach the contacts and twist under the locating pegs :(

    When you say no reverse do you mean the gear lever will not go over or it is not selecting. Are all forward gears working

    Is it possible the alternator seized and snapped the fan belt ? Had you got the extra lights switched on when it snapped?

    personally I would steer clear of scotch block connectors and make either a screw connection or a crimp connection. The blade connection on scotch blocks corrodes/reacts then starts arcing causing carbonisation thereby causing a high resistance causing more carbonisation etc etc. If you...

    Just remember any supplies you are taking direct from the battery must be fused as close to the battery as possible. Where are you, perhaps someone can come and point you in the right direction. Trust me I am an electrician with 35 years experience. :D :rolleyes:

    Check the earth onto the engine. Had this with a kit car and it turned out to be a missing earth therfore using the temperature gauge earth as a return
