It's been years since i did a manifold on one of these as well but i do recall having similar problems in the past. I think it was either something to do with the thread length of the studs being too short or ****e in the head side thread. I'm trying to think if i had to run a tap down the head...

Note for yourself for next time.I know it won't help now but ALWAYS mark pulleys,shafts and casings with a scriber before slackening anything off. That way you have got a half decent chance of lining it up again without re-timing.

I've got a Midland rig with a mag mount,twig(cant think wot the twig is) and swr meter if ya want to make me an offer. I will have to dig it out first and wire it up to make sure it still works though.
