being to Halfords today and bought a trigger and a bottle of Air Con Gas

sat in the sat reading the instructions and then cracked on with the job

my air con didn't work at all and after holding the trigger for 10 seconds the fans kicked in and read the gauge and then topped up until in the green for the temperature of today and 10 mins later it was lovely and cold inside the car

Still have a 3rd of a tin of gas left as well which blows cause it needs to be empty to get my £10 bottle deposit back lol

Would say to give them a try if you can get a trade card it cost me £44 and £10 of that i will get back when i return the empty bottle

You could keep the tin for the future top ups, or do as I did, topped up my my mates cars

thats what im going to do my Cuz coming down by the look of it.. still a really good idea tho even if i kept it myself as it says paying to top it back up if needed

The only problem i can see with this is it doesn't have the means to remove air from the system so will only be a temp fix.

maybe so but going from nothing to working air con for the summer is good for me lol had loads of reviews is one of them things you dnt no until you try so i tried it and upto now it works a treat

Air con is a funny old game,
I know folk who have done wot you have and every thing is tip top,
Then folks has stoped working after 2 days coz you have a leak

I hope you stay cool:D

i did my best to look for leaks

no sign of oils from any of the pipes which is a start its as i said i can only try it i read reviews and thought it has to be worth a try cause Garages aint cheap for this either and once you buy a trigger using a trade card its only£27 for the tub of gas and then theres £10 back on it

This should be banned. I payed a fortune for a course and a certificate to be able to handle r134a legally. Do they supply you with the protective gloves etc... Why was your aircon empty? You probably got a leak. You won't hear or see all leaks. It can be over a couple days or weeks.. Most garages are around 45 quid. And that's a full check. With the right amount... Another thing I bet you dont know Is how much have you put in. Or even how much you need to put in.

Exactly

look i only made the thread because up to now i have found it useful

no i have not done courses and it doesn't say on the tub i just followed the instructions

as for it being empty i dnt no why i have only had the car since the beginning of the year round here its bout £60 for a Aircon service and this cost £34 when the tub goes back if this was to work it was half the price and if it doesn't then it cost more but its a chance you take sometime to try and save some money

Stay cool man
If your happy we're happy :hippie:

For the little difference in cost and big difference in aggro and peace of mind, I'd rather let a garage do it.

I dont see the big win , its about £40 to get it done properly with die injection included, as mentioned previous post , in your case it looks like its working for a while , but when it stops again your back to square one . Then you will need to get it properly leak checked and evacuated and recharged , and end up with a useless trigger as well JMHO

I totaly agree with you
but some people are lucky and can get them working from a quick refill

I tried that once, squirted it in , all I could hear was psssssssssssttttt as it came out somewhere

You were lucky , most stop working because they have a pinprick somewhere
