    Series 3 Engine Mountings

I ended up buying a good number of different engine and gearbox mounts until I found some that actually did the job they are meant to. The pattern parts from ebay and Britpart were made of the wrong materials and were just too hard to do their job. I can't remember where I found them but I got...

    Brake Balance

I seem to recall that the servo master cylinder applies the front brakes first then the rear but that means plumbing the rear brakes to the front most port...

    109 front 11" brakes conspiracy

The illustrations in the workshop manual have the top and bottom. I think it's a common lurk to swap them so they're horizontal to make bleeding easier. So long as the flexy is going to the top (point of least movement) I can't see the problem in having them horizontal...

    Galv chassis

The other options: Britpart - they came from Richards last time I asked. I got my SWB one from Ribble Valley - mainly because they had it in stock and I didn't want to wait for it direct from Richards.

    Galv chassis

Buying direct from Richards is one way (mine cost just over £2000) with extra fuel tank hangers and bolt up x-member that was two years ago though...I really need to pull my finger out!

Series 2 Bit concerned about Brit Part swivels - any recent experiences

http://www.paddockspares.com/frc7065-swivel-ball-black-teflon-coated.html seems Paddocks still supply the Teflon ones. Not sure how well that would stand up to being pelted with gravel

    Engine cut off

Never had a problem with bulbs/holder on mine other than rust and that can be prevented with a good dose of copper ease

Series 3 Routing cables and pipes

Thanks Bobs, sounds like I should be able to do it outside the house rather than driving up to the workshop then! Ta D

Series 3 Routing cables and pipes

I've just fitted one of these http://www.mudstuff.co.uk/mini-mud-pod.html it has a rev counter, AFR guage and vacuum gauge. I've stuck it on the dash near the middle out of eye line and only blocking view of the bonnet. The wires and pipe are routed messily at the moment - what's the best way of...

    Engine cut off

How did they test the handbrake? Other stuff should be a doddle. If the hand brake really is out it probably just needs a new oil seal and will be full of gearbox oil... Welding is always the must subjective and depends on the tester. Have an ask round a good welder should be able to advise...

    Head Gasket Issue

James is right of course but the drain plug might just need the ****e poking out of it, mine was full of oily muck but the innards didn't need a clean beyond the usual flush. What did the water look like that came out? Are you after doing a real engine fettle or just get it running again. Glad...

    Dom's 109" (re)build

Well, I've not done much on this for the past year. I got distracted by the chassis swap last year and not got back to it since. The gearbox is still in bits in a box waiting for me to work out what to put back and what to replace or whether to just get another. I hardly get a chance to go up...

    Ignition light

What's your idle speed? I had dull/flickering ignition light on idle when I fitted a new alternator, turned out that the new alternator needed higher revs (later motors have an 800rpm idle) and the pulley was a bit bigger leading to it gearing down. Shouldn't be a problem unless you spend a lot...

Oil pressure light won't go off

No, from the lamp to the switch, the switch shorts the negative side of the bulb to chassis when there's no pressure. The other side of the bulb is to ignition. Download the workshop pdfs and have a look at the wiring diagrams, they're pretty clear and the colours can be a help, unless the...

    Head Gasket Issue

It's a fairly simple job - just putting mine back on after some non-essential messing around. Things to remember are: - clean out all the thread holes with an air line before refitting head bolts - get a GOOD torque wrench, not an old one that;s been dropped or a chinese one that is miles out -...

Oil pressure light won't go off

I'd be tempted to run a fresh wire to the switch as it could be an intermittent short somewhere

Series 2 Bit concerned about Brit Part swivels - any recent experiences

Some Britpart stuff is awful and I think they had a few bad batches of swivels a few years back. I fitted a set in 2011 and I've done a lot of miles on salty roads since then and they seem to be holding up ok. The paint on the flange is hopeless though and it chipped off quite easily but that...

    Radiator panel S3

Joe, I'm not sure that's the bit he means if you mean 330443, that's a splash panel underneath the wing. Here's some pictures of my fixing attempt https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/radiator-panel-needed.223316/#post-2585990 D

    Radiator panel S3

I don't think you can buy a repair section. I just used a bit of angle iron and filled the rest with scraps and weld. It's held up ok so far. And my welding is pretty poor!

I measured my polybush sleeve this afternoon was bob on 20mm, inner dia around 14.5mm
