    all wheels locked

very unlikely to be diffs giving problems unless they've been run dry of oil and burnt the bearings out which takes a bit of doing (changed one the other week where a hole had appeared in the diff pan which let the pinion bearing run dry and weld itself up) middle position on the "high/low"...

    Worth taking a punt on?

i've no idea if it's bigger or better really, it has more surface area so i guess it'll cool a little more effectively but i've no idea if it'll flow better i just fitted it because i wanted a tidy arrangement, i think it's a far tidier fitting than the full 200tdi radiator/intercooler...

    Worth taking a punt on?

most vehicles with a turbo have the intercooler in front of the rad' and many have a air con' rad in front of it as well, "radiator pack" ring any bells i stuck a td5 intercooler across the front of my 200tdi rad' in my 109, i've not experienced any over heating problems even in the two years...

    Series III Tyre choice?

i've no idea of how much and not sure which way but i suspect they're offset deeper under the vehicle in the same way as my alloy disco rims appear to be the 8spokes you currently have are probably 7", might be 7.5" those would happily carry 235/85 tyres and there's always paint or powder coat...

    Series III Tyre choice?

you deserved that slap :p so you're using 7" rims lol just slap a set of 235/85x16 tyres on them, you do realise disco rims have a different offset

    how can i be sure

they're on the edge of the diff flange that bolts to the axle casing

    Series III Tyre choice?

i'm guessing your defender steels are 5.5" wide (it'll be stamped between the stud holes) if they're 6.5" it's likely they came from a 127/130, 7.50 x16 is a nice size and comes in all flavours of radial and crossply from all terrain to road use only i've both width rims and i mostly only ever...

    what have i bought?

leave the A bar on there and get a pair of period correct spot/driving lamps, a pair of Lucas Square 8 lamps comes to mind (50watt halogen)
  9. N

    how can i be sure

the chassis number in your logbook/v5 and screwed to the bulkhead mean nothing where the model of landrover you have is concerned just going on external appearances i'd initially assume that it is a S3, S3 bulkhead, screen and wings being the obvious signs, now these could have been...

Sticky rear brakes on my Series 3. Help!

there is also a slim possibility that you have a blockage in the pipe or union over the rear axle stopping the fluid from returning to the mastercylinder i've obviously no idea as to when (if ever) that pipework was last replaced

D2 owner liking this S3...is it a good one?

a U.K. mot isn't worth the paper it's written on when buying an old landrover as that isn't a guarantee of condition either you really do need to go and examine that landrover in person, take a small hammer and a long screwdriver to check the chassis over carefully, check the bulkhead over...

this is the picture Rattlegun was talking about

    Under-engine crossmember gussets problem

the late 2a had certain similarities with the S3 chassis that you've already listed, so i'd hazard a guess that you've bought a late 2a chassis and as you've found out the crossmember gusset gets in the way of the S3 slave cylinder mount chop it out and paint it up, the steel there is...

RR 3spoke wheels on series land rover

    Hensey’s rebuild

you're going to need a bigger engine ........ just to run the size alternator you'll need to feed all them lights :p

Oil Catch Air Box with 200tdi???

easiest one to put under a Series bonnet is the 200 airbox, it can be welded to or strapped down, it's not too bulky or odd shaped unlike the 300 airbox i have a 300 airbox laying in my pile of junk, eventually i guess i'll get round to throwing it away as i can't really see a sensible use for...

URGENT advice required on Series 111's

according to everything i've heard in various internet arguments the limit is 2 imperial tons according to the Series 3 manual (sometimes even listed on the chassis plate)

URGENT advice required on Series 111's

the steering properly set up is nothing to worry about, only difficulty is when manouvering in tight spaces as there's no power assistance the tdi engine with overdrive makes for a reasonably economical motor but the gearbox may not like the engine and requires constant care/oil, the gearbox...

Oil Catch Air Box with 200tdi???

a '69 2a is supposed to have the lights in the wings similar to the S3 and would originally have had a single wiper motor and cable drive to operate the wipers but who knows what has been changed in the last 40+ years the 200tdi airfilter is as pictured above (without a cone filter), the square...
